I’m just in the middle of moving my plex server from windows to a synology 920+ but I don’t think this is related to that.
I’m in the UK and I wanted to record yesterday’s formula 1 race. it’s broadcast on channel 4 in SD but also channel 4 HD in HD. I set a recording for the race and told it HD only, to ensure I picked up the channel 4 HD version, but when I checked the DVR schedule there was no race scheduled to record. I had to remove the HD only restriction and then it showed the recording at the right time, but on the SD channel. I played around a bit but all I could do was leave it on the SD channel. I let it record just to see and it did indeed record in SD.
Channel 4 HD is enabled on my tuner, and the race was shown on the guide for both channel 4 and channel 4 hd. When I clicked record on the HD guide entry, it went to the recording entry that I had already set up and that entry showed Channel 4, Channel 4 HD and channel 4+1. I can even click on Channel 4 HD and watch shows in HD, so what went wrong? why did plex refuse to record the HD version?
Server Version#: 1.26.0.5715
Player Version#: 4.29.2
Tuner Make/Model: HDHomeRun CONNECT Duo
Guide/Lineup name: How do I tell?
Using XMLTV?: Don’t know
Channel number/Name: UK 004 Channel 4/104 Channel 4 HD
oh, right. I need to limit the channel selection? I assumed that the “prefer HD” selection would auto select the version on the HD channel… otherwise what else does it do?
I’ve updated my recording config, but there’s no new F1 race in the next fortnight so I can’t see if it’s working yet, but I’ll keep my eyes open, thanks.
@fyonn Plex never seemed to get it working correctly, it’s been like this for over 2 years now that you have to limit it to the HD channel otherwise it only records the SD channel.
