I have an Nvidia shield with the plex app and media server stored on there
I installed it a few days ago
I have a Qnap NAS attached to the Shield and it is visible as storage on the Shield as well as in Plex
All my movies, tv, music etc are stored on this NAS and it has a windows drive letter and the drive is visible on my windows laptop
I’ve added libraries for movies, tv, music etc
On the shield plex app, I see thumbnails for all my movies, music, tv etc
When I select anything on the shield plex app, I can play anything. Everything is fine

However when I use the plex app in chrome (version 4.8.3), for the same movie, I get a message ‘Nothing is here. This item may have been deleted recently’
I’ve not deleted the movie since I can play it on the Shield app

I’ve tried rebooting my laptop and also tried plex in firefox, but the same thing happens
I’ve also tried running VLC on my laptop and accessing the files on my NAS directly
The same movie is visible in file manager and plays perfectly

I went to Settings and did a library scan and also a library analyze
I waited for everything to finish and tried accessing some movies, tv shows and music at random
I have the same problem in that the Nothing is here message is shown or I get a playback error ‘There was an unexpected error during playback. Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems.’

I restarted the shield, and I get the same problem
So it appears it’s an issue I’m having with the plex web app on my laptop
I downloaded the logs here
Is there something else I can try ?

I checked the read/write permissions on the NAS and the directory is r/w
I rebooted the shield as well as the laptop and NAS and tried again
Same problem with the web app not being able to find files after clicking on the the thumbnails, but shield app and laptop access direct to the NAS is ok

Can anyone help with this ?
I just can’t get any further and I’m ready to just dump plex and try something else

Your Plex server version is ancient. You should update it, before trying to debug this any further.

Thanks. That did the trick. Same movie that plays on the shield now works on the web app
