Nothing working after PW reset

Plex Server will not run in Windows (doesn’t show up in system tray) or, if it is, the Plex log-in does not recognize it. Have tried reinstalling Plex Media Server several times, added PMS to shell:startup, went back to my old password, checked firewall settings… Incredibly frustrating that a simple change could cause such havoc. I’m ready to ditch it all at this point.

If the Plex icon is not in the system tray, then it’s not running. Can you find PMS in your start menu and try from there?

Don’t do that. Get PMS running manually, then from the system try, select the option to start at login.

Okay, took it out of shell:startup. Doesn’t seem to run from Windows Start menu. It never appears in system tray.

That is a bigger problem. Try installing pms again, then grab the installer log.

How do you “grab the installer log”?

See the instructions to manually get your server logs. In the log folder there is an installer log folder. Zip that up and post it here.

Plex install files.zip (15.3 KB)

Anything i can do to install properly?

Do you have more than one Windows user account on this machine?
If this is the case, is it possible that Plex server is already running under a different Windows user account?
It can only run under one user account concurrently. It must always be the same user. Otherwise it will lose access to its data folder and settings.

Good thought, but I only use one Windows account. I am truly stumped.
