Notification about new announcement not going away

Today I saw a small yellow “1” under my profile icon in Plex Web. If I click on my profile icon, go to the Announcements section, and then click on the new “Introducing Skip Credits” article the notification disappears.

The problem is that it always comes back. As soon as I reload the main Plex Web page the yellow “1” immediately reappears.

How can I make this notification disappear for good?

Yeah, I was just noticing the same thing.

Maybe quit, then relaunch the browser?

I stepped away from PC for awhile. Came back a few minutes later, relaunched Chrome, went to app.plex.tv, and the notification was gone.

Using Chrome 110 on Win10 Pro.

Reloaded the page just now and it’s gone.
Weird, it really wouldn’t disappear before no matter what I did.

Force refresh your browser (ctrl+f5) and the announcement comes back again as being unread. Also, if you actually go to https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/announcements you will see the unread icon on the right corner even after its been read multiple times.

This continually happens when plex push out something to the announcement page. See the threads below as two more examples …

If the past is anything to go by they’ll get it sorted in a few days.

The little yellow dot next to the announcement is gone for me now. I don’t know why or how, I really tried a lot of things and nothing worked. Until it finally did eventually.

I removed the “Solution” marker for this thread since you and probably others are still having this problem.

If you do Ctrl+F5 on browser does it remain gone? I bet it doesn’t but you could be lucky

Yeah, it does remain gone for me.

It will go away for a few minutes after you read the announcement page, but will come back soon to remind you of the new feature. I’ve even navigated to the blog post a couple of times to try to get rid of it, but it will still return again in a couple of minutes…

Exactly the same for me.

It’s staying gone for me as well, even after Ctl+F5. Can’t tell you why, though.

Yeap, a good few times now. Scrolled to end of the announcement document. Tried using empty browser cache and using chrome + ff and also on another PC. All the same results.

I’m also using a chrome based web browser, not sure why it goes away for me but not others :eyes:

Maybe depends on the server version. I’m using the test build with ffmpeg modification for music genre detection, and it has a lower version number than the latest, greatest server version.

Possibly? I’m currently on 1.31.0.6654

We fixed issue with cache but it may take up 24hrs to clear for you depending on when you first read it. We are working on another fix which should be deployed soon I am told to hopefully fix it for good. Sorry for the trouble.

The server version should not matter
