Ok… first post so I am sure what I am saying won’t make sense. I have been using a plex server on my imac for about a year. I recently bought the shield 2019 edition and I am trying to migrate plex server to my shield. I have removed my imac from my account. Here is my problem.
The server is running on my shield, but when I go to the app I do not see it though it does show up as authorized devices (Both server and client).
When I run the client locally, I see the default libraries but cannot do anything with them.
I can access the desktop app through the shield port 32400. When I do this I do not see anything under your media. I dont’ see any of the libraries that I do see when directly accessing PLEX in the shield.
I drop a picture into Photos and a video in Home Videos and the picture shows up but the video does not. (At one time both did not, but after a uninstall/reinstall of both server and client the picture appeared)
When I go to plex.tv, I see the server and client authorized.
I have gotten it into a state where the server will not run requiring a reinstall. I am basically able to do that toggling between system and user storage.
I have not hooked up any external storage yet (Planned to do this) but just wanted to get the basic functionality working. Did not expect this to be that hard.
I have reinstalled the server and client 3 times. I almost deleted my account but then saw the warning. I am not sure if this is related to having my iMac server deleted. I have never seen my shield on the plex.tv appear. That is why I removed the iMac.
At this point, I am totally at a loss so I must be missing something. Looking for suggestions.
Weekend two. I set my Shield to use the same IP at all times. I reset my router to factory settings. I set my DNS to use Google DNS. Still no go and now I have other odd things I am seeing with my shield.
I cannot turn on my Transfer Files over Local network setting. It says no Ethernet or wifi connection even though I have one and can do other things on the network.
When I go and access the server app directly at times I get a message “no Soup for you” but I am still able to see my login and and use the app.
at no point even when directly hitting the Shield Plex server do I see any indication of being able to manage my content which is the only thing I want to do at this point.,
One other piece of info. I can see I am signed in on the shield and the plex media server is running on 2031. When I click on the More Button, I see to Home Videos (one with a Warning icon and the other with a pin and no warning icon). I don’t personally think this has anything to do with it because at any given time I am seeing different things under the more button
I am on my 3rd weekend with no resolution. Just received a server update V1.18.2.2079. I am still unable to see my shield on my plex desktop. I have added nvidia shield as a static IP and have gone trough and re-linked the shield to my account multiple times. It links just fine, just don’t see it in my web app so I can manage it. Sometimes I get the “No Soup for you” message and I think this is related, but the shield plex server indicated it is signed.
I have a remote storage device I connected to see if I can get that to work and when I select it as storage i get “Shield Android TV is Currently Unavailable”. When I try to retry the connection, it does not work… I seem to lose connection to the storage whenever I try and change it as I am trying to get something to work.
This should not be this difficult and I seem to be talking to myself.
I have replaced my router with a new AX router and have done a complete factory wipe. Nothing has changed and no reponses so my best guess is I have a an issue nobody else is seeing and don’t have a clue on next steps on trouble shooting.
Just incase anyone is wondering. Still have not solved the issue. I had my Shield RMAd and still the problem persists. I have port 32400 externally set up and forwarded to my shield internally to port 32400. Have the latest Server version.
I have switched routers. I have switched shield. I have tried and and wireless. Nothing seems to be working and I seem to be the only one experiencing this. Very strange for sure.
