all it adds is support for the new “discover” feature.
“Discover” yet more issues?
Just kidding.
Or am I?
Yeah I was aware.
A failed attempt at irony.
Until I read the latest posts in that link.
Hello
Also have issues with Dolby TrueHD/Atmos
I’ve got latest PMS version : 1.25.8.5663
and latest client version : 9.01.31729
Shield TV PRO with all the fixes.
PWS is on a dedicated Windows PC. Movies are on NAS.
Since April 1 I have issues with some Dolby (atmos/True HD) 4K HDR MKV.
When I try to start playing movie, it doesn’t start (the charging wheel doesn’t stop turning and after few minutes Plex crashes).
If I switch to another Audio Format, movie starts to play.
No issue with DTS:X or DTS-HD Files
Not all movie are concerned by the issue.
So it seems it’s because of the Plex Player. We have to wait for the next version?
the “fix” is mentioned in the thread quite a few times.
it’s to downgrade the client version back to the last know working version.
Thank you.
How to do that?
Just wanted to add (sorry, I’ve not read this entire thread as it’s a bit long now!) but I find that lossy Atmos plays fine, it’s just lossless I can’t get to play. All other formats are fine.
Client version 9.0.1.31729 on Shield Pro
Sadly as the thread (and number of attempted fixes) has grown there are more and more issues not just related to Atmos.
Indeed. The letters Q and A appear to be missing from the Shield tester’s alphabet
Just downgraded to 8.31 and finally my atmos tracks actually play atmos and all the freezing, yellow buffer circle, and rewind/ff are all back to normal. I really like the new feature discover feature but they gotta bring it back to the lab make sure all the bugs are fixed first.
That’s interesting.
There were definitely issues in 8.31
I thought that was the release when the issue of Audio and Video gradually going out of sync first appeared with Atmos.
If you don’t see that then great.
If you do you will need to roll back to the slightly earlier 8.30
Have tried multiple different versions and cannot get my mission impossible 2 file to play in either HDR or DV.
28.42GB, 32.9Mbps, MP4
Video; 3840x2160, 23.976 FPS, 29.4Mbps, HEVC 153 Main 10
Audio 1; English, TRUEHD, 5.1(side), 3.5Mbps, 48000 kHz
Currently;
Plex version; 9.1.0.31720
Shield pro version; 9.0.1(33.1.0.283)
PMS version; 1.24.5.5160
Also tried going back to Plex version 8.30.1.31022 and 8.30.2.31022 and neither worked. Again Plex was just hanging/crashing either while trying to play the movie or in the menus.
It gets to the same.paer of the movie and crashes out or Plex just crashes even before that in the menus.
Even the stock version of Plex (9.0.1.31729) from the playstore is hanging/crashing during setup. I can’t even get past the account link part without it crashing a few times. It’s also constantly crashing while going through the menus of Plex.
Do I need to try and install the hotfixes from Nvidia?
These updates literally seem to have broken Plex for me, completely. I guess I’m off to try Kodi.
I downgraded to beta 8.29.0.30300. Have been on it for a week now and pretty much everything is working as needed. Still have the audio dropouts with 96kHz TrueHD tracks.
I downgraded to 8.29.0.30433 and it would seem on my shield tv pro 2019 i still have gradual av sync loss…anyone have any other suggestions for another build to try?
I’m trying to revert back to 8.30.1 but I’ve not done side loading on the Shield and am not sure what I’m doing wrong.
I’ve downloaded ‘kepler-arm64v8a-googlePlay-stdExo-8.30.1.31022-b7faf36f.apk’ from Plex (is this the correct architecture?) and copied it to a USB stick. Put the USB stick in the Shield Pro and open X-Plore file manager. Browser to the file, open it, get asked if I want to install it, click install…progress bar…then I get the message “App not installed.” with no other feedback.
Could someone explain what I’m doing wrong, please?
I think you might need to uninstall Plex first to ‘downgrade’.
i believe that’s correct.
you can sideload a newer version over the top of an existing install, but you can’t install an older version over the top of a new version.
having to uninstall and re-install is a pain as you then have to set up the client settings again.
Yeah, that sorted it. Thanks for the quick and informative replies @conorlap and @herman_munster
edit rolled back to 8.30.1 and lossless TrueHD/Atmos tracks are now working as before. Just to mention again: lossy Atmos tracks (typically from web streaming files) worked fine, it was only lossless that gave me trouble
Also double check you have automatic updates disabled if you haven’t already.
