Nvidia Shield Dolby TrueHD playback is borked

confirmed, that was something i included the the various UI issues i mentioned in a previous post.

The issue has been fixed in the latest beta version.

Different teams work on different features, the playback team has nothing to do with the new features that have come out. For this particular issue it was fixed by our new demuxer which is too big to release in a hotfix, hotfixes contain bug fixes.

You can send them to me via a private message.

It’s the same file I have which also has the issues, its being investigated.

which issue?

the releases notes for the beta release just out fix the play next issue.
the post preceding your post there was about UI issues.

also, is extremely slow scrolling in the most recent public release done on purpose or a bug? it seems that with every new release the scrolling speed everywhere except the ā€œa-zā€ list is getting slower.

I saved the links in my favorites, I’ll test it today. Thank you for your help!

Thanks for reporting, this has been fixed in the latest v9.1 beta.

I was referring to this post which for some reason didn’t get quoted in my reply;

If you are looking for earlier builds, I would recommend you to grab the APK’s from our announcement thread in the forums, this contains every build we have released for Android and comes from us. Using third party sites can end up install miscellaneous software on your device (though APKMirror is usually safe).

All our builds are available from; Plex for Android - #426 by ManuelPG

I do not see beta releases in that thread. Is there a separate thread for those?

Betas are available here: Release Announcements - Android TV beta - #517 by marekszulik Though they expire after a bump in the beta versions.

I will also have to test, I’m getting zero audio with my atmos test tracks. Even if PMS says direct playing.
Broken atmos

Can you fetch the client logs for me? Are you able to share a sample that doesn’t have sound as well?

I will retrieve the logs a bit later. Here is the link to the file I watched. WeTransfer - Send Large Files & Share Photos Online - Up to 2GB Free

Remove the link if it’s not allowed.

Edit: This always worked. It’s how I demo my system.

Here you go.

I’m having a crashing issue even trying to install Plex now on Android shield pro. I’ve tried to stock playstore version and updated to the beta version from the playstore.

I literally cannot even get past the setup without it crashing several times. If I try long enough I can get in to the app, choose preferred server then I can’t get past the ā€œcustomizeā€ page.

I have tried completely uninstalling an reinstalling with a reboot in between and no joy.

Eventually I get in but it seems like if I press buttons too quickly the app hangs and then closes itself.

It’s actually getting ridiculous, I paid for a lifetime pass and can’t get it to work.

I opted in for the beta. Holy ā– ā– ā– ā–  everything is so much better. Even the GUI flies. Can forward UHD content again, my atmos tracks are also working again.

@Joe_Booysen

Would you be able to do me a favour if and when you get chance.

Can you try heavily scrubbing through a file when you get a chance. It can be anything and is definitely not an Atmos related thing (a webdl will do fine)

I’m curious to see if the video freezes AND no audio AND the timer still counts down as if it’s playing.

If you can awesome but if not no problem.

As a side note it seems to be not 100% reproducible. Sometimes it happens other times not.

that likely has little to do with the app.

you might need to clear cache/data from the app, possibly even factory reset the shield.

This is not accurate. The problem is still happening. I will send them via private message so you can see what’s happening.

Thank you.

I actually did this just after the beta was installed. I was very frustrated with skipping ahead, felt like I’m back in the VHS age. It seeks almost instant with no audio desync or stutters.

The file info:
Video
Bit rate : 30.1 Mb/s
Width : 3 840 pixels
Height : 1 608 pixels

Audio
Format : MLP FBA 16-ch
Format/Info : Meridian Lossless Packing FBA with 16-channel presentation
Commercial name : Dolby TrueHD with Dolby Atmos
Codec ID : A_TRUEHD

All I did was install the beta. Everything works now. So it was the app.
