Nvidia Shield Dolby TrueHD playback is borked

They have fixed it as described above.

I installed 9.1.0.31883-c5303 (arm64v8a) from the beta page and it works a treat on the 4k TrueHD playback.

Good luck.

Had the exact same issue as you guys: movie filesw ith TrueHD audio were not loading, they got stuck on loading screen, this wehen ustin ā€œstableā€ 9.0.5

After reading the last posts from this thread, I just upgraded to 9.1.0.31883-beta and issue is now gone.

tried to play The Dark Knight (4k HDR DTS-HD) this morning on this most recent beta build, froze twice within the first 2 minutes stuck on orange spinning circle.

both video and audio are Direct Play

had to revert back to 9.0.5 to play the content

Can you help me with installing this version on the Nvidia Shield? I have the Shield Pro 2019 and am completely unable to play any 4K MKV with TrueHD using DirectPlay. AC3 sound works fine though.

Use your phone to visit the Google Play Store page for Plex and opt in to the Beta channel. Give it 30 minutes-ish, then check for updates on the Shield and you should be offered the beta client.

For what it’s worth, the Beta version worked for me…

I was going crazy until I found this thread.

As was suggested, I signed up for the Beta program on my cell phone. After a bit, there was an update available on my Sheild(s).

After installing the updates, my problems seem to have gone away.

I am on the latest 9.1.0.31883-beta. I have an issue with F9 - the Fast Saga, still. Voices are noticeably off. Happens multiple times during the movie, requiring a pause/FF/RW to temporarily correct. Like everyone else, this only happens with TrueHD. 5.1 is fine.

The issue starts occurring around the 2:15 mark and is most noticeable starting @ 2:55 in. This appears to be a chapter split. I have tried re-ripping/encoding, but no luck.

Mpv for plex on android when? D:

Nice to see that bugs are getting fixed!! I got this fat subtitle one that just makes the app crap itself

Well glad i wasnt the only one having this issue. The latest release of Plex seems dodgy AF on the Shield.

Issues from using subtitles, and now with 4K HDR@TrueHD 7.1

Like most people stating, not all 4K@TrueHD 7.1 has these issues, some work but some wont and get the never ending circle.

I really do hope they find a solution ASAP, cause this is starting to become frustrating.

Can you clarify what you mean with the subtitle issue?

Have you been able to try the beta and see if the issue exists there? If so and the problem still exists, can you send me the client logs?

Yeah I finally with a day off had chance to check out the latest beta.

This is by a long way the most problematic release yet.
I think I’m done.

Positives are I see no audio sync issues any more.

But everything takes forever to load and finally play.

Still not even an acknowledgment (of it being reproducible) with the issue of frozen video and audio whilst the countdown timer still being active

It was crashing the entire app. But seems like after today it was fixed. The issue was related to stylized scrolling subtitle text in ASS format

Looking into the truehd issues thou. I’m having similar issues with the spider man UHD and some others. Friends getting the same issue as well. I’ll log and report back once it’s 100% replica-table.

I signed up for the beta earlier today and tested a full 4K DV Atmos UHD. At first there was no issue. But on wreck it ralph , I’m getting horrible audio dropouts. Exactly the same issue Kodi has in 19x (windows). Maybe a similar issue with Disney Atmos nitrates ?

Jungle Cruise. Same audio dropouts, Dolby Atmos on screen trigger just popped up twice in the first minute.

No updates from Plex? Have you identified the problem and are you working on a fix?
What’s the eta?

This particular issue is rooted in seamless branching titles with theatrical and extended versions. This is a completely separate issues outside of the regression impacting all regular titles with TrueHD/TrueHD Atmos. The issue with F9 and other titles is with the remuxing process with seamless branching titles.

Sorry but dont have access to the Beta, i’ll propably try and sideload the old version of v8.30.2 as @achilles stated earlier 14d ago.

Another issue i’ve seen with playback is loading subtitles, very often when you select subtitle and start to play the movie it just doesnt load.

Starting the movie without subtitles works amazingly well, and when the movie has started, i can select the same subtitle that it had previously issues without any problems. Checked the logs and i couldnt find anything conclusive or related that there would be any kind of issues. Happens quite often, sometimes it works though.

This is by using .srt External ones

Is this a Plex problem or something else? How would the seamless branching issue be fixed?

I can confirm this behavior! When you select a different subtitle during playback, it usually doesn’t load the subtitles.
