Yes, it will update to the latest beta automatically, once you’re signed up.
I’m no longer seeing any Dolby audio issues during playback.
Generally the only time I scrub is to whizz through the credits at the end. I did that last night with The Big Short (DTS:X) and the sound did disappear for a bit even though the video and timer continued on so I concede there probably still is a bug there but it isn’t one that affects me in day to day use.
Still issues with the latest Beta released today. John Wick 3 (Remux). Starts fine but after about 7 minutes the inevitable orange spinning circle of death.
Went back again to 8.29 and plays perfectly fine.
Don’t release another update until this ■■■■ is fixed. Stop wasting my time.
John Wick 3 seems to freeze for me 30 seconds in, infinite buffering circle.
FFW skip and it’s been working fine after 15+ min.
No change in Godfather III CODA not loading at all.
Can confirm The Godfather III CODA not loading unless you skip forward (1 click/30 seconds will do the trick).

Zero issues with John Wick 3 here.
All UHD REMUX, of course.
EDIT: Latest beta 9.1.0.31999
Tested Step Brothers 1080p remux and I too have sync issues, but this also occurs on my Apple TV with InFuse. That tells me it’s something with the movie file itself. Overall, 8.29.0.30300 is still my go-to until the latest beta proves otherwise.
As someone posted, we should not muddy the water here.
The issue is with the current Plex client on Nvidia Shield.
I have files that previously played fine that stutter and transcode and simply will not play now.
The same files on the same Nvidia Shield play flawlessly on the current Plex for Kodi addon. Unfortunately that add-on has issues of its own aside from the fact that I simply don’t want to use it.
I’m encouraged to hear that people may be getting this to work with a beta version of the Plex client, however I don’t really want to go down that rabbit hole either. I would hope that the Plex engineering team can quickly identify what they broke and revert that change.
Thank you for taking the time to watch, buddy. Now I know it’s the remux and not Plex. I agree, side-loading 8.29.xxxx has been solid so far.
i’m guessing that’s a beta release as the only public version close to that i can find is 8.29.0.30433
Yes, 8.29.0.30300 is a beta. I keep going back to it after trying more recent beta and stable releases that have too many playback issues.
This is really helping me justify the cost of a Kaleidescape.
So many messages in this thread… is it fixed with the beta?
I understand if I opt in beta, to return to stable I have to remove the app , opt out of beta and reinstall, right?
I will have to reconfigure everything also?
It depends on what you mean by ‘it’. I believe that the issue I first reported when I started this thread is fixed with the current beta.
There are other issues though.
Correct.
Correct again.
Thanks.
In fact I have 3 problems:
1- can’t play truehd files at all
2- when I was able, I had some stuttering here and there in some files, don’t know of it’s related
3- when seeking to much, the audio get out of sync but probably not related since it happens on every files, truehd or not
Problem 2 and 3, I can live with it but problem 1 is really important to me. I may try beta in that case because it seems it’s not gonna make stable release for a while…
Problem #3 seems to be fixed. I no longer have any problems with TrueHD videos, so #1 also appears to be fixed (with the possible exception of videos with ‘seamless branching,’ which I apparently don’t have). If #2 is also about TrueHD content, it should also be fixed.
If you don’t want to mess with a beta release, hopefully these fixes will get promoted to a general release soon.
I decided to use kodi plex add-on for truehd files until it’s fixed in stable release.
Audio is working great
#3 is not fixed for me with the latest beta. When I seek through the playback, audio gets out of sync and the workaround is to seek one more time. Are you sure it’s fixed on your version?
Hopefully a fix coming soon. They are so fast to put out two fast updates for Discovery feature but cant fix this and the TV play next bug for over a month. Very aggravated right now. Would rather not mess with beta. Have been dropping quality by 1, causing a transcode for now.
Re: the seek problem, the only videos I’ve had a problem with are those with AAC audio (AC3 and other audio codecs played fine after seeking). I tested the latest beta (9.1.0.31999) with my AAC content and I no longer saw that problem.
But we may be referring to a different problem. The one I reported (and which appears to be fixed) is after seeking, the video (and audio) is frozen, but the playback timer is still incrementing as if it is playing. Pressing forward or back on the remote (fwd 30 sec or back 10 sec) would make it play again.
Also, I’ve reported another problem (also apparently only with AAC content) where if I press back on the remote, then press pause, then play, the audio and video are out of sync. Pressing back or fwd again brings A/V back in sync. That problem does still exist in the latest beta.
Obviously none of the above has anything to do with TrueHD, so I’ve not been reporting it this thread.
Really?
I last checked a day ago and was still seeing it happen personally.
Will check again on my days off.
