Just turn off all updates for the Shield. Thats what I did. Then you can check every so often and pick and choose which apps to apply an update on.
No problem. I asked him the same question anyways
Have any Plex, inc employees given us a heads-up on when we are allowed to have a working client on the Shield Pro as a production version? We are coming up to 2 months of a broken player and we all know where the engineering resources were forced to go.
Are you still seeing issues on the latest beta?
Or are back on an older stable?
Iām on current stable, as well at all of my endpoints in various properties I own. I donāt have the time or technical knowhow to learn how to downgrade.
Well if it helps I had only seen one lingering issue in the last beta.
The current one seems to have fixed that.
Hopefully it gets pushed to stable sooner rather than later.
There have been maybe 6 betas addressing the issues over the last couple of weeks. They all appear to have finally been worked out so while they may not say when Iām hoping the next stable will include the fixes.
surprised you havenāt come across them during daily usage, as they are quite obvious.
unless, of course, you havenāt been using any of the 9.0.x public releases. some of the UI issues introduced in 9.x have been discussed in this thread.
but sidebar focus is broken where pressing back results in the wrong items being in focus (this bug existed a long time ago and was fixed, but has re-occurred in the 9.x releases)
quitting out of the plex app (by pressing back) results in a bug where the screen re-loads and you have to press back double the amount of times than you should (again this bug existed ages ago and has re-occurred)
basic scrolling thru items on the main āhome screenā is now very jerky (along with the sudden decrease in scroll speed throughout the whole app)
these are all easily reproduceable if you compare 9.x to 8.x releases
depends on which shield you have
Which Shield version and or remote?
Iām confused by your references to pressing left
Especially in regards to quitting the app.
no matter where you are in the plex client app, if you keep pressing back (the button that points left) you will eventually quit out of the app, as left is essentially a ābackā button.
this bug is almost certainly linked to the sidebar focus issue.
as said, both these issues existed a while back and were fixed, but were re-introduced in 9.x.
but if you werenāt using any of the 9.x public releases you probably never came across it.
Are you on the 2019 shield with the triangular backlit remote?
itās nothing to do with the shield and/or remote.
however i both the 2019 pro and 2019 tube shields - problem exists on both (i use shield remote on the tube and a logitech harmony on the pro).
other people have reported seeing the same issues, so itās not just me.
Sorry Iām not implying it was just you.
But my remote has a back button as well as the circular d-pad
Pressing left on the dpad has never attempted to quit the app.
Only the back button does that for me.
Anyway sorry I canāt help.
sorry, of course i mean the back button (which points left).
no idea why i kept saying d-pad when thatās not the button i meant.
itās very easy to replicate though
come out of plex completely, load plex again.
it should load to the āhome pageā
press back once
youāll see that āhomeā is highlighted in orange, but the sidebar icon that is in focus the āprofileā section
press back again, and the plex home screen will reload (it should close the app at this point but doesnāt)
press back again and now the correct sidebar icon is in focus
press back again and the plex client closes.
I have a Shield TV Pro 2019. Is this the correct one?
No problem.
And yeah got it.
I probably havenāt noticed as I use both the Shield as my secondary device alongside an Apple TV 4K.
If I do use the Shield itās only ever for watching 4K Dolby Vision movies to I donāt really do much navigating around on that device.
But I can reproduce what you say.
shield 2019 pro - arm64v8a
shield 2019 tube - arm7a
Thank you. Confirming that 9.1 latest beta solved my TrueHD playback issues.
Plex for Android 9.1.0.32117-beta has fixed the TrueHD issues for me yep!
Still experiencing those UI issues @herman_munster mentioned however!
