I have been having quite a few issues with the Android TV client on the Nvidia Shield regarding the LiveTV, that so far have not been happening on the Linux client running on a different machine, or when recording (but I need to test more thoroughly).
I get often random errors when trying to tune or switch channels, often needing more than one attempt or to restart the app. But, more importantly, when I tune a live channel, it randomly stops playing and keeps showing a black screen. No errors appear, and the interface is still responsive, but nothing happens when I try to rewind, I can only exit and try again to tune the channel.
I attach the client log of the last few days. Pay particular attention to 02-09 17:02:xx minute, where one of this black screens happened, and it correctly seemed to record my attempt to wake up the interface to see what was happening.
I also use Live TV on the Nvidia Shield and get a picture. However, the picture always freezes for a ms every few seconds. A tried and tested workaround is to briefly pause LiveTV and start again.
This only happens on the Shield. On the Windows PC with Plex app it runs smoothly.
My setup: SAT>IP Server → TV Headend → xteve → Plex Server (on Synology), with Plex Pass.
I would be happy if Plex would become active here. This is currently keeping me from doing everything through Plex
This workaround in my case works somehow to prevent the freezes due to the poor tuner handling, which also happen in the Linux client (and I think have been extensively discussed here). But it has no effect to prevent the crash of ExoPlayer, which makes LiveTV completely unusable for me and only watchable by pre-recording the show.
I have the same issue with the Android Tv. Live TV works perfectly fine on the Apple Tv but always quits on Android. It is really frustrating that there is no fix.
