I recently copied all the Fringe seasons from the DVDs to MP4s and added them to a couple of Linux based PMSs I’ve set up; one is a manual backup of the other. The odd thing is that in the recently added television all season show up as individual entries except for a single episode out of the third season. Does anyone know why this has happened? It’s not a big deal as such but, like an itch, it’s a bit irritating.
We need to see how you’ve named and structured them. Also, you need to verify what metadata (name/title tags) are in the files. It’s usually best to not specify these tags because PMS will use them instead of the file name
I added them in the recommended, I think, way in the directory structure as follows,
Fringe -> Season 03 -> Fringe - s03e06 - 6955 kHz.m4v
All video files are in this format it’s just this one that is at odds with the rest. So it’s the TV series name then the Season number then the files that all follow this format,
Series name - Season number - sXXeXX - the episode title.
What do you actually see?
I found an anomaly with my episode as well. I would like to confirm whether it’s a database issue or something else.
I tried to reproduce it but it ended well on my server.
It was a quick test. Moved the serie out of Plex. Scan library, Optimize, clean and delete. Move the folder back after renaming the episode his way and worked.
After all of that it’s dropped off the recently added TV list on one server and when viewing all the TV series it appears to have corrected itself so there’s nothing to show. However on another server another episode has appeared in the list for Season 4,
When you remove media, clear all history of it, then add it back it’s completely normal for it to appear as new media.
What is this ‘other server’ ? Please clarify so I know what I’m dealing wtih.
Removing media and adding it back is one thing and I’m aware that it’ll appear as new media. However, The Fringe series was added some time ago and the two isolated episodes just appeared after a scan recently. The image I posted is PMS (Version 1.9.2.4285) running on a Raspberry Pi 3 and the other is a TerraMaster NAS running PMS (Version 1.8.4.4249). TerraMaster are bit late with updates to PMS. One thing I did do was move all media files on my NAS to a dedicated share so everything was rescanned accordingly.
