Server Version#:PlexMediaServer-1.25.3.5409
Player Version#:5.29.1
Last known working version: 5.10
I’ve reset my samsung tv yesterday (UE75TU7022K) and newest plex version was installed, now every time I try to start plex app without active internet connection app will be stuck on “sign in” screen. I did login to my account back when there was internet, I did tick the “automatically login” option and I’ve set manual server ip address. Why is plex team making offline use so painful? I better ban WAN access on the 2nd TV because I don’t want your broken updates to be installed.
We also have this issue. We have Plax on our sailboat with a Synology media server because we are out of Internet access often - now we can’t access our media content through Plex that sits a mere two meters away!
Also, question for the devs: I’ve heard some parts of Plex have been open-sourced. I am willing to take a peek at the Tizen app and see if I can figure it out.
I’m not saying that there is a way to use plex despite never having internet access. Installation process may include one-time caching of remote files (just like downloading app from app store, right?). But after you removed internet access on 5.10 app continued to start in offline mode and was functional as it should be. You made changes that removed this functionality according to the plex app changelog. So please, don’t spread FUD and either give us helpful official statement or just close this topic.
@sLumpy that would be awesome. I am in the same boat as @szymon_dlugoszewski_gmail_com and currently have to use another box with Kodi for my offline media.
Please keep us posted. I’d be happy to test any beta versions.
Haha, half a year later I still don’t see a single reason why I should allow any plex client to call home. And to trust this service and get plex premium DLCs that you sell.
I sure hope this thread will gain a lot of attention on plex subreddit. Absolutely unacceptable and deplorable support you got there.
