HI Guys

 

I have followed the wiki from top to bottom and its a no go.

 

I have ATV2 with Plex Connect installed it cannot find media server and i cannot login i keep getting a fail

 

I have all my IOS devices working 100% i have static IP's for Server and APV2

 

I have tried Port Forwarding & my Firewall & Virus is off on the server.

 

My APV find my server easily via XMBC  no issue

 

All on same Network please tell me how i can trouble shoot further via a error log or something please

Is this correct 

APT 2 on 5.3
Plex Connect on ATV 192.168.0.104 Ver 0.5 Dev
 
Plex Media Server 192.168.0.115 located on WHS 2011 Server Version 0.9.11.7
 
Installed Plex 14 March 2015 vis SSH

My APTV is connected via wireless Sky Hub
 
My Plex M Server is showing mapped to port 21541 but i have tried a manual port forwarding of 32400

I lose all but 3 of my app icons when my ATV reboots. Plex XBMC and Nitro remain but i still cannot login into Plex!!!

I have to go back to auto to get my ATV to work correctly and display the icons

With PlexConnect running on the aTV2 things are a little different: see /PlexConnect/support/aTV_jailbreak/README.txt

No need for changing DNS and stuff...

No, I am saying, with PlexConnect on aTV you don't need to switch DNS addresses. Actually I think, there is no real need for the cert stuff as well...

I have no experience what wahlman's deb, only doing it the hard way. :-)

Well i no doubt have a network issue but cannot work out what is wrong. Hopefully somebody will know when they see the logs

Well, with PlexConnect running on your aTV that doesn't make much sense:

enable_plexgdm = False

ip_pms = 127.0.0.1

PMS can not run on aTV as well (at least I never heard of that...).

Re-enable GDM, or set the correct IP of your PMS - as seen from aTV (127.0.0.1 is the ethernet loopback address, always the machine you are just working on).

My Plex Media Server is on a WHS2011 machine IP 168.192.0.115

On my Apple TV2 jail broken I have Plex Connect IP 192.168.0.104


I thought the idea of Plex Connect on my ATV was so I could connect to my Plex Media server and play my media !!!


Have I got it wrong ?

Your aTV IP and DNS need to be set to automatic when using his original method or my modified version using ssh only based on his original method.

They were and are set to automatic I just have static IPs set in my router so they do not change!


Do I need to follow you new thread in 355 ?

If you wish to use my modified method instead of baa's original method.

Edit - Fixed, PMS was not signed into myplex. Mark solved if desired.

See... then you should put ip_pms = 192.168.0.115 into the .cfg file as well (I rotated the numbers a bit... might be such or other way around). I have no idea where the ip_pms = 127.0.0.1 comes from - this is wrong, definitively, and always.

Or enable PlexGDM to have PlexConnect/PMS figure it out on their own.

Wahlman: There is no strong reason to have PMS signed into PMS - if you don't use "authorization" and stuff. Why not fixing the issue, where it is caused? To me, this looks like an old bandage. :-D

Honestly I’m not sure why it doesn’t work for other users. As far as I remember my local content works without being signed into myplex on my jb aTV 2. I will double check & report back/fix if needed.
