I am not suffering, simply inconvenienced. Even side loading, I suspect there will still be problems so instead of wasting more time on RA adjustments I’ll let the Plex “experts” who were paid to get this right do what they got our money for.
Many Plex users got this as a terrific server for our libraries. I understand that Plex has to make a buck but when they stop pushing free TV, paid video gaming and paid Tidal, they might get back to keeping the server end the best it can be for those who made Plex popular for being a great server. If they can’t do that, they’ll join the ranks of Blockbuster, Polaroid, and Tower Records who didn’t innovate properly in an effort to better serve their customers.
The worst thing Plex execs should fear are the words, “Remember Plex?”
[and now I can’t reorder content hubs when automatic plex manage is disabled, automatic mode would give me several rows of movies and shows, sigh thanks guys keep fixing stuff that was working, cancelled my pass subscription] I’ll need to try emby and jellyfin
This has been fixed for Windows
I agree with you! When I first started using Plex, I searched for how to display by genre. There was no easy way to have it as the default. So I set up separate libraries. However, I’m all for having “recently added” for each library, but it needs to be labeled with the library’s name.
I feel like this Web release, Plex Web - #349 by chrishoage, (specifically the 1st bullet under New) should help to start addressing this issue, but I loaded the Web app from Plex.tv and I can’t figure out how to accomplish this. I am on the required version of the server, so I should be able to do it.
At least I know I wasn’t missing something then .
May I suggest adding to that first bullet (Server restart and web page refresh required)?
I’ll probably have to wait until tomorrow as I try to not kick off people that are streaming for stuff like this, but I’ll definitely check it out once I can do a restart of Plex.
I do see the option to remove from continue watching though, which is nice.
Not a fan on getting a “Pop-up” to advertise for this new (or improved) feature, as a Lifetime Plex Pass subscriber. I understand that informing us about new or updated features is part-n-parcel to a business, but that’s what the “Plex Media Server Announcements” section, Build Release “New & Fixes” listings on the download and email is for, isn’t it? I have the services for outside content (except podcasts) not showing on my server so I don’t have to get “commercials” in my personal content, but now Plex feels the need to interject it by adding a Pop-up?
Please stop this intrusive practice in the future.
I’m moving my two pre-existing movie libraries, slowly but surely, into a single library to eliminate the RA hubs, following the implied suggestion that one library would be a better way to go. I’m not completely opposed to the idea, but it is a bit of work to do it right so that watched status and other goodies are kept, and there’s not to much disruption for the people I share the server with.
Thought I’d share this, for a laugh, from the “Related Movies” hub from A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors Not sure how the algorithm works, but it seems a bit off here:
I’m sure my friend’s granddaughter will be glad Pennyworth - the guy that taught Batman every way to kill someone violently - will pop up when she gets tired of Snoopy in Space.
Could be right, but I have about 500 movies in the new library, been trying to move a batch of family movies, and then a batch of regular movies, so there’s a mix. Doesn’t explain why the other movies, with the same rating, genre, etc would show a much better selection of related though. The movies were all added at the same time, about 5 minutes ago, so it’s not like they are using old data from a few weeks ago.
I do agree, however.
Snoopy in Space sucks.
The sooner we get her off that *^%$ the better.
We’ll start building nightmares with Tigtone for a while, then move up to live action murdering…
After getting the nice popup, I enabled the automatic layout option. I really like the merging of on Deck/Continue Watching. But a few of my rows have disappeared that I like having on the home screen.
I see that under manual layout there is no way to have the combined on Deck/Continue Watching.
My question would be, will there be either:
an option to have this combined row under manual layout. If not, what is the reason?
or an option to influence what appears on the automatic home screen so that I can see the rows I really like there.
At the moment it feels like I am sacrificing some nice possibilities whichever option I go for and not getting the best of either.
By default, I think the only “hub” that appear on the home page is “Recently Added” If you go to Settings–> Manage–> Library (way down near the bottom) you should be able to select other hubs to appear on the home page (and users home page, if you want)
Hover over your library of choice, click on Manage Recommendations when it shows up, and enable/disable the hubs you want.
I think it’s been mentioned before, you may have to re-start the server and/or Refresh the home page on your browser.
Yip, had to restart the server to see Manage Recommendations. Really nice, really liking this feature now. I never really used the Recommended Tabs before, but this feature will definitely have me using it now.
Just one last question, I don’t see an option or I’ve overlooked it. I like to keep the “Leaving Soon” row for Plex movies and shows on my home screen. Is there a way to influence that section for what can appear?
Yeah, I have over 40 different libraries so I can’t even begin to comprehend the number of hours I would have to put in to “fix” this RA thing that wasn’t broken in November. Going back to both the android and ios downgraded installs has fixed like 90% of my woes but has anyone come up with a fix for Plex Web yet to get them all re-merged?
