On this device is unavailable

Server Version#: 1.19.3.2831
Player Version#: 6.12

I have about 380+ TV episodes synced to my iPad Pro. When I go in to Download & Sync and tap TV Shows under Recommended it shows about 20 episodes. When I tap on the Library link to actually see all my synced content I get the following error message:

On this device is unavailable. Please verify that the server is running and has a network connection.

My iPad does have a network connection as does my Plex Server. I can stream content as normal through Plex on my iPad Pro but the synced content isn’t showing.

How do I fix this?

Any help given is greatly appreciated.

maybe this screen is meant for another purpose because downloaded content is in the recommended tab below. This plays fine but why the same content isnt in the library tab , i have no f idea.

Hi shueardm,

In the Recommended tab at the bottom for me it only shows about 20 of the 380+ episodes I have synced to my iPad. It also doesn’t display it in Episode order. Seems to show it by the episode rating.

ah right, ok. I dunno

Plex use of the recommended word in all Ui elements ( I hate it ) get rid it of it or at least allow us to opt out

I have the same problem. I have a load of music synced to my phone. I can stream it fine, but if I go to “Downloads and Sync” I just get the message “On this device is unavailable” Was working fine up until a few days ago. Thinking of cancelling my premium because I only used it to sync stuff to save on data streaming.

Any chance anyone has an update on this? Or has found a workaround? My synced content shows up fine in the ‘Recommended’ tab, but I’m getting the same error as OP.

I was having the same issue as the OP, but with music as opposed to TV shows. I just updated to v7.0 on my iPhone (released in App Store yesterday 5/26/20), and made sure my media server is up to date as well, and this seems to have resolved the issue.

Latest version of PMS and latest version on my iPad and it’s still doing it.

Same here: I have a ton of sync’d content on my iPhone. Upgrading to the latest Plex client app didn’t make a difference. Nor did. upgrading to the latest version of the Plex server. Nor did deleting my sync’d content, and syncing it again. Still get The same meaningless error “On this device is Unavailable” when I look in my Library under “Downloads and Sync”., eve though I just sync’d the content. In my case; it is music content. This is so frustrating.

Same here. Content will show up in recommend section but the playlists I would use before don’t show up now.

Here is another weird thing about this topic. Everything of mine is updated to the latest versions. I have uninstalled, re-installed and re-synced it all.

I’ve synced TV Shows to my iPad in “My” profile and they are not showing in the Library of the Downloads & Sync section, but do show up in the Recommended tab. But
in my “Husband’s” profile on my iPad, they show up in both the Library and Recommended tabs in his Download & Sync section. To be clear, these are the shows that I synced via “My” profile (not my husband’s). My husband doesn’t even have access to these shows. This problem only started with the last update. There were updates of both the Plex server and the iPad app around the same time so I’m not sure which one might be the culprit.

It would be nice if this will be fixed as it gets time-consuming and confusing re watched status when I use Plex offline.

Thank you! and Stay Safe!

Same here
I thought they pushed out a fix for this

Version 6.12.1 is now available.

  • Fixed an issue that prevented browsing libraries by folder.

I thought it was working
and then they put out another version 7.0
Almost seems like that version broke it again.

Be nice if someone from plex would respond to this.

Same problem on my iPad (iPad Air 2, running iOS 13.5) . Synced TV-shows are shown in the Recommended tab, but not in the Library tab. Latest version of both PMS ( Version 1.19.4.2865) and the Plex app (Version 7.0) . Have tried to delete and reinstall the app, deleting the synced content and syncing again, but nothing is working. Very annoying

Same problem for me too. Happens on multiple devices. However It only seems to happen on some of my libraries and not others. One way around it though it to just into the server library and filter it by synced only. However I would still like this issue solved. Any way to ping a admin or dev? I’d at least like to know that this is being looked at.

Updated PMS to version 1.19.4.2893, but still the same problem.

Same issue here - my guess is we will have to wait for another update.

Same here, worked again after the update but same problem again after a few days.

In my tv series folder, I can see my files in “recommended” but not in “library”; works fine in another folder.

Not sure but seems like it happen after adding a new serie in the folder.

Please fix it, it’s very annoying

Another Server update and offline content is still broken! Why am I paying for this when nothing gets fixed!

Another update today, still not working !

Can we have at least some news from plex admins?
