I’ve change the Plex server from an old Raspberry Pi 3 to a Raspberry Pi 4 and as I already had all my videos and music files on an external 2 Tb USB drive, I attached it to the RPi4 and installed Plex. After a few problems I had everything working fine apart from an irratating issue with the Vampire TV series Ultraviolet (1998). It’s a short 6 episode single series but Plex shows it as two series but only has one series and despite everything episode 2 is always missing. I know initially, on my old server, Plex mixed it up with the two series Polish series Ultraviolet (2017 TV series) but I fixed that problem; or so I thought.
I’ve name evrything OK as far as I aware but no matter what I do nothing changes. The file in question is named
Ultraviolet - s01e02 - In Nomine Patris.m4v
All othe files have similar names e.g.
Ultraviolet - s01e05 - Terra Incognita.m4v
and they all show up and play fine. I’ve removed the whole series scanned again, cleaned bundles, emptied the trash and uploaded the whole series again. I scanned again and nothing changed. Does anyone have any ideas?
Edit the settings for the library in which this series lives. Disable the setting “Prefer local metadata,” if it is enabled. Then, Plex Dance the series again.
Failing that, check to see if that episode is being picked up as a duplicate of another. In the Library tab of the library in question, change the view to episodes. Then, apply the Duplicates filter:
If anything shows up with this filter, hover over its poster, select the vertical ellipsis, and then select Get Info. It will show the files associated with the item.
Finally, it’s generally a good idea to include the series release year in at least the series’ folder name. This helps disambiguate series for which there are multiple candidates for a match. In this case the folder containing this series should be named “Ultraviolet (1998)”.
I’d already done most of what you recommended but the addition of the year was an good idea. I tried it an hey presto the missing episode appeared in the episode page. It’s now chugging along scanning the episodes again. Maybe it’ll stop thinking there are two series. I’ll check when it’s finished with what it’s doing now. Thanks for your help
You’re welcome, glad you got it sorted!
