One video file not being found in one PMS, but shows in the other

Windows Server Version#: Version 1.25.2.5319
Synology Server Version 1.24.1.4931
Player Version#: Version 4.71.0 (Web)

I have seen this before, now its back… Added 4 episodes of a TV show into my Synology. My primary Plex server only finds Eps 1-3, the PMS on Synology finds all 4. Have moved files around; placed all 4 in the same sub directory to TV Shows, made changes to the file name, every scan turns out the same 3 vs 4.

Any one seen this and have an EZ, “OMG I can’t believe I’m that stupid” answer?

Anything specific about that mysterious file, e.g. special permissions?
Simply renaming / moving the file won’t do you much good – if the file had e.g. previously been mismatched (duplicate of some other episode), you’ll need to do a full Plex Dance for that file after fixing the name.

Are both servers/libraries configured the same?
If you’re using different scanners/agents, this could explain certain differences in the behavior too.

And adding to @tom80H here

Please show a screen capture of the file system from the root of your TV library all the way down to the faulty episode

I hate doing the dance… I would have go to thru the scanner and agents line by line to ensure they are the same (and I will), but they should be. No permission differences, all episodes were added to the NAS at the same time; nothing about the files look difference from a Windows perspective. Thanks for the suggestions.

I’m also seeing now that the Windows scanner is randomly pulling other video’s and tying them as the TV show including the new episodes.; new PMS was installed on Windows yesterday. I’m going to see of there is s a system restore point and roll back the entire Windows environment.

Don’t… that’s more likely to completely mess up your server’s database than help with your issue. From your description it sounds like there’s some bad config for that library (could be recursive/multiple folder references in the library or some other weird stuff)

Did the Dance, required moving the whole TV Shows libraries as I found other issues on the NAS PMS scan. Agents were pretty much in line. But I think a change in the file structure led to different scanning between the two PMS’. So I simplified the structure (it was done to separate what gets backed up where). After the dance, 99.9% looked good. Found one video that was mismatched in the NAS. But seems that the PMS there lacks certain options (like Argus TV). Was pretty easy to spot via Non-matched filter.
