Hello.
I’ve been having trouble with my Plex server for a while now and am getting quite sick of it, so I’m after some help or guidance. I have a very uncomplicated system:
1 Windows Laptop
1 Seagate 3TB Personal Cloud
1 Samsung TV
(1 server connection - no longer in use. possible cause of some problem).
So the problems started a while ago. I had everything set up: music on my SPC, Movies/TV on my remote server. Both appeared on PMS via my laptop and on the TV. My remote server had an easy way to update versions, while SPC did not (and still does not). So the TV section was up-to-date and music was miles out of date to a point where it just stopped working. I then cancelled the remote server and finally found out how to update the SPC manually. this seemed to work, however I had to “start again” as it were. I then created a Music and a Compilations folder, all lossless music on my SPC, in 2 separate folders. again, worked well for a short while. Then I needed to update so I did what I had done previously and… nothing. So I started again. This time, however, I am unable to “claim” my server, something I can’t recall ever doing. Nothing happens when clicking Claim Server and I can’t get a remote connection, I assume because of this. I am apparently needing to upgrade even though I’ve upgraded version every day this week, with the same version given to me via the Downloads page (Version 1.13.4.5271) It has also deleted my Compilations folder, but picked up my Music folder, so I will have to add my Compilations back on again.
Getting really fed up as it is a monthly thing where Plex just stops working. I’m soon to be out of storage and looking to upgrade, perhaps to Synology so if that is the best bet I’ll use the SPC as a back-up and copy all the Music over to Synology.
What I need help with is claiming my server and getting the remote connection back, as well as other advice re: storage. If Synology is easier to deal with than Seagate re: Plex, I’d be happy to change over.
