OpenPHT for Odroid C2 - Information and Tips

I still have some problem of artefacts on my screen and audio cutouts. I don’t understand why…

It’s works without problem for more than one hour and often begin to messing when I stop a video.

Have you remove the J1 jumper like indicate in the Odroid Wiki ?

Hello everyone,

I reply myself by saying that I changed my HDMI cable and do a new installation on another SD card. I have no problem since then. I hope he stays like that.

Hello All,

start Testing OpenPHT with my brand new Odroid C2… Setup are done… OpenPHT is running…

In moment there are 2 Questions…

  1. Hibernate don´t working…

When i Press Hibernate in OpenPHT Menu nothing happends, the Menu goes back to home… i can´t find information about this…

  1. LIRC Support

I have Setup the LIRC with my own lirc.conf to work with my Apple Remote. The Config are from my Raspberry Pi. See here: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/247551/lircmap-xml-changes-in-1-7-1
But it looks like it don´t working…

Regards
Massaguana

Hello everyone,

I’ve just finished setting up my newly arrived Odroid C2. Everything is just working!!!

Just one question: I’ve read something about not turning it off, because it will need very little power in idle… so OpenPHT is only in the menu for some minutes, nothing is being played or anything, but it definitely gets warm and stays that way (inserted in the official Odroid case). Am I doing anything wrong or is it fine?

Mine’s been running always on with no issues.

Does anyone else experience periodic audio/video sync issues? There’s occasionally a lag of a what seems like a few milliseconds, just enough to make it noticeable and annoying. It seems to be more prevalent with HEVC/x265 content but I’m not sure. It’s not present on all content otherwise I’d use the audio delay feature to correct it, nor does the lag seem consistent even within the same movie. Some scenes are in perfect sync and a few scenes later it’s not, then a few scenes later it’s back in sync. Almost all of my content uses DTS or Dolby lossless audio ripped straight from the Blu-ray at 1080p.

I’m streaming this over a gigabit network so it’s not a bandwidth issue. My Plex server is a Dell R710 with twelve 3Ghz cores feeding from a 12 drive SAS RAID array so that’s not causing it. I suspect the ODroid C2 might be having a hard time doing the real-time decode of HEVC/x265 while keeping it in sync with the audio. Any thoughts?

Im having issues with VC-1 content, even though I’ve read on this thread its either fixed, or only happens with interlaced VC-1. For me, it’s happening on any VC-1 content. Some videos it’s very bad, on others its just slightly choppy.

Here’s some info on both types of outcomes.

I reported the same issue on January 28. None of my VC-1 bluray’s ripped in MKV will play smoothly:

"I just set up a C2 with embedded OpenPHT on an eMMC card. Scrolling my 500 bluray rip library is much faster and smoother than on my Rpi2. HD audio passthrough works great.
However… my VC-1 bluray rips do not play smoothly with or without hardware acceleration. You can see Benjamin’s response to my post about 16 posts up. It is a known issue, and won’t be fixed until OpenPHT v2. (MAYBE)

I tried every combination of video/audio setting on the eMMC card and 2 SD cards and no joy on VC-1. Since I probably have at least 60-80 VC-1 movies, I wont’ be using this C2 until OpenPHT v2 is out.
I did find a beta Libre elec Kodi image that played VC-1 properly, but I don’t want to use Kodi, even with the Plex addon.

I’m not sure why most people don’t seem to be having this issue with VC-1 also?"

So my Odroid C2 has been sitting in a drawer for the last 6 months waiting for possible fix :frowning:

I’m having issues with my wifi disconnecting when idle on my odroid c2. I’m using the ODROID WIFI MODULE 5 as my wifi adapter. Anyone having this problem and know how to fix it? I’ve tried a clean install and still the same issue occurs. Running on a EMMC module on OpenPHT-Embedded-1.8.0.148-573b6d73-Odroid_C2.aarch64.img

Does OpenPHT respect the use of advancedsettings.xml tweaks?

I need to know so I can force video cache into RAM so I don’t destroy my eMMC card.

Oh and just to report:

There’s speaker pop when switching from theme music to playing back media. Very annoying. C2 build.

Test the Setting “Keep Audio device Alive”…

Thats a huge bummer. I may have to shelve the Odroid for now as well, unfortunately

Hi the version of ffmpeg used in 1.8.0 is 2.8.11. How can we upgrade this? There is a GAB2 AVI vulnerability in this ffmpeg version.

Has anyone experienced:

  1. latency when initiating playback of any file type?
  2. latency of a skip where it freezes for a few seconds?
  3. out of sync issues after skipping ahead multiples times? Audio and video aren’t in sync any longer?

Has any one had Bluetooth connection issues when trying to connect harmony remote?

Bluetooth is not built-in, correct? Which adapter are you using?

Yes that’s correct, it’s not built in. I’m using the USB adaptor that is recommended by hardkernel. CSR8510 Bluetooth module 2.
I’m only getting connection problems on OpenPHT version 1.8.0 and 1.7.1 but strangely it works on version 1.6.2

So the new odroid-c2 arrived, flashed the rpi sd card with the odroid build and booted up.. CEC is working like the rpi with my Sony TV remote.

The UI is sooo much smoother, i tested some videos from my local plex library and everything was direct-playing with minimal cpu usage, very satisfied.

I tried some test files to check what the odroid is really capable of, so i downloaded those from http://jell.yfish.us/:

all 3 are perfectly fine, so i tryed something more heavy:

Working again no problems, here picture:

I went to http://kodi.wiki/view/Samples to get some more samples, so i downloaded:

this one played really bad, so i can confirm what the other users reported about vc-1 playback issues.

4k 60fps played with no issues but i have no hdmi2 cable nor a 4k tv, so not really a good file to test.

i went insane and tryed to download some 5k and 8k samples from youtube:

but none of them started on the odroid.

really pleased going from the rpi to the odroid for now, i hope the vc-1 problem can be addressed soon

At first videos played fine on my oDroid c2 but now after a couple days I’m having an issue where I select a video to play and the screen goes black for a bit and after a while it will eventually begin to play with a message in the corner that says “cache filled before reaching required amount…” (it gets cut off). Any ideas how to solve this cache issue?
