Server Version#: 4.114.3
Im having problems with transcoding on Nvidia shield Pro.
When I optimise files the end file has no vidoe content - only sound. Which means plex player doesnt play it. Ive gone into where the optimised videos are and check it with VLC media player - theres no video content there either, only the sound is in the file.
The file also shows 0mbps also - which suggests no video content. Ive tested transcoding .264 files, and HEVC files to ‘Optimised for mobile’ as well as ‘Optimised for TV’ - same problem for both - no video content.
Do you experience this with different files?
If it’s only happening with some… could you posing if the media information of the original file (see how to investigate file information)?
Edit: can you please also verify the actual server version (see Settings > [Server Name] > General)… you’ve posted the version of the web app

Same problem happened - optimised file has no video.
I then turned off hardware accelaration for transcoding - and ran optimising file one and two again, and it works… which means it likely has something to do with hardware transcoding? Which is odd - I opted for the nvidia shield as I wanted something faster to transcode.
My server version is Version 1.32.5.7431
Weirdly now that I have turned off “Use hardware acceleration when available” and “Use hardware-accelerated video encoding” - it now transcodes when media files are accessed remotely and the local player cant handle HEVC which wasnt working before… very odd
why would my nvidia shield hardware assisted transcoding not be working?
Ive run some more tests with a H.265 file - accessed it on a player that cant play this type of file.
Ive disabled hardware encoding…
all works fine … client uses HW decoding and then software encoding.
But then when I enable hardware encoding… I can see HW decoding and HW transcoding - but it fails - Player doesnt play file - it just contunually buffers - assuming because the file isnt being created
