I have my movies organized on my hard drive by genre. I’ve added one genre (Animation folder) to my Movies library, but it doesn’t show the genre name w/ the movies in it. If I add another genre, the movies will be in one pile and I don’t want to be searching through a long list just to find a movie. Is there a way to show the genres when I am in the Movies library so that it is organized better?
You could make a library per genre.
You could also add the genre to the metadata.
I use a combination of mediaelch and XBMCnfo importers to have maximum control over my metadata. However this is less comfortable than using the Plex scrapers and having all your metadata set automatically.
If you are depending solely on the folder name rather than metadata, about the only way to do this would be to change the View to “by Folder.” That comes with some limitations, though. Getting your metadata in good shape may take some work, but once done it will be better, and easy to maintain moving forward.
