I recently updated my app on my Macbook from “Plex Media Player” from 2018 to “Plex” downloaded from plex website. Everything logs in fine now but I can not connect to my media server on windows with this device and the app. I was unable to connect with any home networked device today until I made the registry entry on the windows server for allowedNetworks and 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0,10.10.10.0/255.255.255.0 . (https://support.plex.tv/articles/201105343-advanced-hidden-server-settings/?_ga=2.236144706.2107878747.1578019271-638261050.1577906385) After the reg entry and server restart I now can access on my Roku tv, Iphone, and amazon fire stick after re-logging in, I however can still not access my server with my macbook running HighSierra or samsung tizen tv. I can access the server and play back via web app on firefox with no issues but its not optimal. I have not used plex app on this macbook for about 8 months so I am unsure if it has worked since I last used the old “plex media player” app. I have the “allow fallback to insecure connections” enabled on the macbook and also media server.
Any thoughts on this? I am traveling here in a few weeks and wanted to set up remote for watching on the laptop but that wont work if the app doesnt even connect on local networks.
Edit: fire stick works fine but Samsung tv and OS X app don’t
