OTA Live TV Closed Captioning—Should CC's function now? If so, how to enable?

PMS for Mac: 1.25.8.5621 – 1.30.2.6563
Plex players for: Apple TV 8.5 – 8.13, iOS 8.5 – 8.13, macOS 1.41.0.2876 – 1.62.2.3451
Tuner: SiliconDust HDHomeRun HDFX-4K
All 59 OTA Live Channels (most, perhaps all, supporting CC)

.
Is OTA Live TV broadcast Closed Captioning (“CC”) currently supported?

If so, how to I enable CC display and or recording?

.

The SiliconDust HDHomeRun Apple TV, iOS and macOS apps support CC on all the OTA live TV channels I tested (roughly half of the received 59 ATSC 1.0 channels), including all the channels we tend to watch or record, so it is clear that our tuner does both support and deliver CC.

.
Google only found the string “Closed Captioning” in two old Plex Articles:

The 15 March 2021 Plex.tv Article stated explicitly CC’s were then not supported:

Closed-captioning or alternate audio channels are not currently supported for Live TV.

.
Nevertheless, many forum topic authors seem to indicate CC functioning more recently, both while watching live and playing recorded OTA content.

.

I don’t recall ever seeing OTA Live TV Closed Captioning while watching OTA Live TV live (real-time), nor playing PMS-recorded OTA Live TV shows or movies. (All content in our PMS Library has been created by PMS recording OTA Live TV broadcast shows and movies.)

(I have setup adding subtitles from OpenSubtitles.org, but they seem to always have very, very large offsets and show/movie titles often differ from EPG data requiring awkward Plex-app search-title editing, such that adding OpenSubtitles.org subtitles seems practically useless.)
