Panasonic (model TX40DX700TV) + Raspberry Pi + DLNA - not working

Server Version#: 1.25.2.5319
Player Version#: N/A

Hi All,

As the title suggests I have a Panasonic TV and have been trying to set up Plex to stream my local media (mostly DVD and CD rips) using DLNA. Previously I had a Synology NAS until is broke down and have been using my windows PC as a DLNA server.

My Plex setup is pretty bare - all I did was turn DLNA on in it. I can see the DLNA server on both the TV and my laptop, and can stream to my laptop (using VLC) but the TV gives my the spinny symbol before letting me know ‘cannot read file’. I tried both mkv (straight from the dvd rips which worked before) and converting them to mp4 (using VLC, default settings)

I’ve disabled DLNA on Plex and installed MiniDLNA which works fine with both mkv and mp4 files on the Panasonic TV. While this works Plex seems to have a lot more features.

Anyway, does anyone know of a fix for Plex? I’ve looked on the forum and it talks about looking at the web requests and setting up a config - but I’m really not sure how to go about either of these. I do use computers, but not linux and I know very little about networking.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Gavin

You can’t use these features anyway, if you only use a DLNA client.
