Today I went to watch a recently added movie to my server and noticed a very large cusor (pointer) in the middle of the screen when I launch the PMS app for smart TVs.
I cannot simply scroll the menu as before, I now must use the pointer.
When the movie is launched it plays in the top left corner of the screen.
I have not changed anything on the media server itself except to updates to the app/server itself.
Same here, impossible to watch anything full screen now just shows a video box in top left corner and the browser aspect ratio has increased too it shows in the top half of the screen.
“We are making a change to only the Panasonic app so it can load properly. This will hopefully be done today when we reach a deploy window that won’t affect too many folks. We are doing this is because it was our mistake to not recognize that the changes would affect the Panasonic app.” quote BigWheel
It’s all to do with Plex updating their app.
It was only supposed to effect older smart TVs and is to address possible security issues.
It looks like almost all smart TV’s have been effected and certainly all Panasonic sets.
There is nothing you can do other than wait for Plex to sort the issue out or use a fire stick or game console.
same issue with my TX-50HX820B. hopefully be sorted soon and they will continue to update the app on Panasonic TVs as have read on other forums they wont be…
Same here with my 55CX680 Series. 2 Days ago I updated PLEX (on my Synology Server) from Version 1.18XXX to the new 1.20xxx Version. From this point on erverything was a catastrophy. Nothing worked, no connections, not to my TV, so I switched back (somehow) to the “old” 1.18xxx Version. Now I have the same Problem like you all. I can tell you, that the 1.20xxx Version will not fix this cursor problem and the small presentation of the movie in the left corner. Anyone any idea?
@Richard.Preston: As far as I know is the answer no. According to Plex Inc the Panasonic Brand is not sopported anymore :-/
First I removed it from the list of players within the PMS UI (/web/index.html#!/settings/devices/all)
Then I launched the Plex app on the Panasonic, it asked to sign in. I did so and all seems to work as before.
I’m now looking to move away from the Panasnic player devices as they continue to be problematic. You can’t even install a Kodi app on them. Panasonic certainly aren’t forward thinking about their devices.
