Plex acting weird on a Panasonic PV

Hi All,

I’ve been using Plex on my TV for a couple of years with no problems. Yesterday the UI on the TV is squashed to the top half of the screen and a mouse type pointer has appeared on screen. When I play a video the image is not full screen but playing in the top left of the screen. I’ve factory reset the TV but nothing has changed.
Any ideas?

Can you close and reopen the app. That should have been fixed about 30 min ago

Yes it’s back to normal thanks. What was the problem?

Unexpected result of some security changes. The first attempt at fixing caused the weirdness you saw.

To be clear it is a very old version we stopped supporting a while ago and as of right now there is not going to be any other updates to the Panasonic app. We just did not recognize that the change to backend things was going to break things for it.

Thanks for the info. So should I be planning to buy an external device to continue using Plex? For the same or better functionality what should I be looking at?

I personally think a Roku or a Nvidia Shield are the two best options, but everything has their plus and minuses.

Thanks for that. BTW where in the World are you? (I’m in Southampton, UK)

I’m in California. Plex employees are from lots of places as we all work remotely. A bunch are in the UK.

Thanks again. Best wishes.
