Panasonic TV app suddenly claiming server is offline

Server Version#:1.20.1.3252
Player Version#:3.13.21 (Plex for Smart TVs)

Panasonic TV player working flawlessly until about an hour ago.

Now displays a message saying server is offline or unreachable.

Both on same network.

Server on Synology.

Other apps on iOS and web access from Mac all working OK.

Rebooted TV - no help
Logged out and back in - no help
Updated server version - no help

Checked another Panasonic TV in the house (different model but still with the Plex app) and also get the same error there.

Seems as though Panasonic have updated the app and changed something.

Error screen says to check if secure server is disabled - it is not; it is set to preferred.

I have exactly same problem since this evening CET -

Panasonic TV stop to work with error page “secure server disabled”.

Server on QNAP 1.20.1 works perfectly locally connected by PC (http and https), no way from TV

I have the same issue here in our holiday apartment where we use Plex to access our tv channels and recordings from home. Things started to get bad at about one hour ago. Before, we have watched a recording for about an hour without any issues.

Same server and player version like @idf:
Server: 1.20.1.3252
Player: 3.13.21 (Plex for Smart TVs)

Edit: Access works from iOS App, Plex Windows App, both remote as well as “locally” via VPN

Same Problem.

have you restarted our server?

And here too. Spotted it about 2 hours ago. Server up and worked with the PS4 app.

Thanks both, not just me then.

Looks to be some change that Panasonic have made to the app or on their servers as annoyingly all their apps seem to need to call home in some way, even though the content is local or not from them e.g. Netflix.

Yes because the update will have stopped and restarted it

Same for me, Plex App no longer able to find the server
Is it related to that news ??? :

Same problem.
Working on all other devices.
Tried FULLY rebooting EVERYTHING in the system.
Signing out and back in again on the TV but still no joy.

Notice the TV app was released June 2018… is it outdated and not compatible with the latest server update?

Here can anyone tell me the specific model Panasonic they have.

Also in the allow insecure setting in the app can you try setting it to Always

The same problem with two recently bought Panasonic TVs of 2020 year product line
(TX-55HXR940 and TX-43HXR900)
Both worked fine yesterday
Today both say that “device requires secure connection, but something went wrong, please check that Secure Connections server network setting is not set to Disabled”
Option is set to Preferred
Also tried Required - did not help
Tried re-login to server, unlink TV and link it again, manually specify Plex server’s IP, reinstall Plex App on TV and Plex Media Server on PC - nothing helped

Versions
Plex for Smart TVs: 3.13.21
Smart TV Alliance: 3.0
Plex Media Server: 1.20.1.3252-a78fef9a9 (Windows)

TX-55HXR940 and TX-43HXR900

I do not see such or similar option in Setting menu of Panasonic Plex App (ver. 3.13.21)

Happened to me tonight as well. I’m in the UK, using a Panasonic 55FX750.

Panasonic Software Version 3.108
Latest PMS on Synology NAS. Works fine on every other device.

Happened to me as well. My TV isn’t even out of warranty. Using latest Plex. Tried downgrading to older Plex version but no good. Is there any way round this?

it should be here

Plex App on my TV is missing some options including Fallback to Insecure Connections. Also it seems in your case Plex App in running in a kind of Dev mode. Can it be the cause of difference?

I have the same problem. Have tried everything Hefford has but no joy.

I am in the UK and my TV is the Viera TX GX800b, I believe it is a 2019 model so not old. Bought less than 6months ago from John Lewis.
Plex app version on the TV is 3.13.21.
Can not see a way to update the app on the TV’s app market.

Latest release running on the server and all other devices are working fine.

Have also just read that Plex stopped support for older smart TVs 30/09/2020.
If that’s the case mine is not an older TV and I wouldn’t expect it to stop working just like that.

Is there a fix or work around for this?

That app version 3.13 is very old but not sure why you are not seeing the option to use “allow fall back to insecure”. Panasonics OS just can’t run the new versions of app thats why you don’t see the updates in their store.

I’m trying to find out of those models only support TLS 1.0 which is one of the main reasons those old devices are no longer supported

I have the same screen. No option available.
