Panasonic TV app suddenly claiming server is offline

Mine looks the same as AndreyN. No extra options

Panasonic 50DX700 Purchased Jan 2017 - still under warranty - not old
Panasonic 24DS500B Purchased Jun 2017 - still under warranty - not old

Many people saying 2020 models stopped working too.

What I find annoying is that both devices are on my network, neither had any changes between working fine and not working fine, but seem to be reliant on and broken by changes made by plesk outside of my network.

Hm, what would you do in the worst case that neither Panasonic or Plex will fix the issue (which will probably be the case as we are in the consumer TV market
)?

Go for the new Chromecast, the Old Chromecast or the Firestick ? Would need something with 4k and not be willing to spend more than EUR 80? Needs to be a system that can easily be used by the family without an IT degree.

UK user here too of 2 year old Panasonic Smart TV, Plex 3.13.21. Same thing happened last night, no “fallback” options. I do have a fire stick and a chrome cast somewhere in a drawer, but they were in a drawer for a reason, my smart TVs have been doing fine otherwise. I understand it is a shame for Panasonic to not support newer protocols on TVs that seem otherwise great, but it is also a shame for the otherwise excellent app to not allow me to connect from a TV in one room to a server in another room inside my network without requiring a secure connection.
I mean it should not be hard to allow insecure connections on an old release tag that is compatible to Panasonic TVs, the other way around (going from insecure to secure) is the hard part. Just saying

French user. Panasonic 50DX800 (2017) No extra option to insecure connections. Still not able to user Plex app anymore

Ok definetively NO PANASONIC TV are working since yesterday afternoon CET, does not matter how much old are.

I have a brand new 4K oled TX65GZ1500E two months old and worked fine until yesterday with plex.

I suspect a PLEX TV certificate issue probabily in PLEX they have decided do not accept TLS 1.0 from yesterday.

Panasonic has the 3.13.21 plext TV app which HAS NOT failback to unsecure connection feature
This is a shame for both, Panasonic not supporting new protocols but Plex as well do not update consider this large family of TV and do not allow direct connection inside the same nework to my server whithout pass through them

There is any offical PLEX position, reply whatsoever?

Anyhow I have reinstalled Twonky, maybe is ugly but it works everywhere and super fast.

In attach the LOG of the server after a connection tentative, maybe helps

TLS 1.2 has been the recommended version for 10+ years.

Although it was Plex that finally disabled support for TLS 1.0/1.1, if Panasonic was selling TVs in 2017, much less 2020, without support for TLS 1.2, that’s deeply embarrassing. I’m suspicious how that could even be true!

Do these TVs have a web browser built in? If so, can you visit this site?

https://tls-v1-2.badssl.com/

Or this one:

https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/viewMyClient.html

Badssl.com works with TV build-in Firefox browser.
Green Screen show up
And SSL labs tells that user agent support TLS 1.2

No does not work with embedded browser, it tells unsecure connection

Hello
 are not ‘OLD’
any Panasonic TV stop to work since yesterday. I have one bought two months ago, 4K oled
 TX65GZ1500E

Does it tell anything more? It might not, sometimes embedded browsers don’t give as much info. :-/

Insecure connection is a weird message to be getting. If it doesn’t support TLS 1.2 I would expect it to explode and fail, not say “insecure”.

Looking at the posts, am I right in saying that this seems to be affecting UK/EU Panasonic models? Also is the missing non-secure option limited to these areas?

Volts, my built in browser said that TLS 1.2 is supported

Yeah your response seems conclusive. But it doesn’t “add up” exactly - why did you get a different result? Why did it work? Perhaps “Firefox” doesn’t use the system TLS libraries at all.

Are there two browsers, “Firefox” vs. “Embedded”?

The panasonic browser show up “connection not reliable” and after a white screen. I suppose who’s working is using firefox or chrome.

The built in browser is Firefox. it’s the only browser on my TV DX800 model

Okey I found the answer: Plex support is ending 2020-09-30 on older smart TV devices

So
all Panasonic users are cut out because are considered obsolete devices

I know that on some platforms Firefox doesn’t rely on system libraries for TLS, so that result doesn’t confirm or deny what versions the system supports for other apps. But it is interesting.

Hi,

I am also following the Threath with great interest.

As already mentioned, the same problem with the Panasonic TX-55GZC1004 model :frowning: The Xiaomi MI Box S (for lower resolution streaming), the APP does work, the WLAN is not stable :frowning:

Has anybody verified that they have current Panasonic software/firmware installed on their TV?
