Panasonic TV app suddenly claiming server is offline

Yes - it is saying ver 3.217 and no further update available

Hoo! That looks like a nice TV! 2020 PANASONIC TX65GZ1500E

It looks like it bundles either gnutls 3.3.30 or nss 3.21, which support TLS 1.2. That doesn’t mean that the system actually supports it or makes it available to apps like Plex. But it’s interesting. It doesn’t make me think ā€œThat’s an old, unsupported TV, with old TLS.ā€

Makes me assume something else is going on.

Yup, the integrated browser is indeed fine with TLS 1.2, don’t know if it carries its own libraries vs the Plex app not doing so…

There’s really no chance this would work, but … you’ve got to try anyway …

How about https://app.plex.tv/ in the browser?

I didn’t say the device I was old, I said the app v3.13 was old. We stopped supporting Panasonic in December of 2019. We usually leave free apps in the stores in case folks want to use them since they may work for a time,.

I wasn’t aware i did not have that fallback setting

Takes you to /Desktop and shows a big Plex logo with nothing else on the page.

Yeah … like I said, really no chance. It’s a big web app, that’s an embedded player. Sorry!

Hello, ok now it is more clear. Panasonic is no more supported and keep the AP in the market was a sort of temporary favour. Maybe…maybe update the APP allowing to use unsecure connections will save thousands of users.

Anyhow I will back to Twonky

Thanks for the support.

Twonky?

does it work in better condition with Panasonic SmartTV and a Synology NAS?
Presumably Plex will not want to do anything here, what alternatives would there be that have the same scope of functions and would be relatively easy to install / use?

Is there any news on porting a more recent app to Panasonic ?

Before all you can continue to use plex in DLNA with the standard tv media player, tree surfing… Said that if you can’t use the app and the graphical advantage etc etc make no sense keep Plex on the NAS because is a high cpu consumer and use the NAS for the encoding. In my opinion better unistall the server and use the twonky server (cost few $) which is full DLNA, very light and use the TV to encode

Thanks BigWheel for the clarification that support was dropped back in 2019, but was wondering why it was dropped and would there be a chance that support would ever be reinstated?
Also was it a plex or Panasonic decision to stop support?
I’ve had a good couple of years of Plex on my FX800 but i’ll use the xbox app until hopefully
plex or Panasonic decide to support the consumers of their products.

I was asking that same question. Go into any shop selling TVs and Panasonic are one of the major brands. Why would Plex drop support for all Panasonic TVs since 2016?

After a bit of googling, it appears that Panasonic pulled out of the US market in 2016 (which is why most of those affected posting on this thread appear to be in Europe). Being US based, I don’t think Plex see Panasonic as a major brand anymore, but it results in a poor message to its international customers.

I held off getting a lifetime Plex pass for a long time as the ā€˜benefits’ of Plex pass don’t really add any value to me, but I did it anyway as I wanted to support development. Seems I’m not even getting that any more.

I still point out that we went from a situation yesterday of working to not working while neither the TV app nor the server app changed in any way. Why can’t my TV talk to my server on my network without going crying home. That is the equivalent of my computer suddenly not talking to a printer on the network because the printer has to get permission from say HP.

I’m in Charlotte and I got the same message a little over an hour ago.

I have the same problem with my Samsung TV. It says the movies & shows not available

I would have to agree with your sentiments idf, I’m in Australia and everything was working fine until this morning but i have a huge blue box telling me that it has issues and a big cursor on the screen over the top of plex which won’t let me select ok to clear it. Also it appears Panasonic are pulling there tv’s here next year as well. Having family members sharing my server i will stick with plex but it certainly isn’t a good look as you say for the international market.

Exactly… so to connect to my server on my network I have to ask a permit externally ?

I’ve same problem.
Panasonic TX-40AS640E with the latest firmware. I don’t know vers of the app. It sends this error: " Error The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later."
I’ve a latest version plex server and I can connect to with my other items like smartphone, PC or another Samsung TV.
I tried to reinstall the application but I couldn’t go to the authenication so I guess the problem is not in my house.

Same thing happened to me today. All other devices working except Panasonic TV
