Partial subtites on TV

Server Version#: 1.16.5.1554
Player Version#: app on Samsung TV

Hi all,
my MKV files are on a NAS (QNAO TS251) connected by Ethernet to my TV SAMSUNG. I installed PLEX app on this TV to view my movies. Unfortunately when I’m watching movies with subtitles, the subtitles are not always displayed during the movie. Sometimes they are displayed fine and then they disappeared during 10s and come back. Same problem on all MKV files. Subtiles list is correct in the movie option.

Any idea of the problem ? Performance issue ? I never have some lag on the image.

thanks for your help,

Romu

Same issue here on chromecast v1. Subtitles work fine on other devices. I did try to force subtitle burn but according to the server dashboard the files are not transcoded. Changing quality is not working either.

Server Version: 1.16.5.1554

I have an Apple TV connected to the same hub as the TV and the NAS and I installed PLEX on the Apple TV. It seems that I have no problem with it. To be confirmed…

Same problem on LG Smart tv

Have a look at this testfix and decide if it bears on your issue.
These things get buried in other threads xD

Well done the new version has fixed the problem. I just have the subtitles a little before the speechs.

I can confirm the bug is still there.
Subtitles (srt in mkv-file) appear not continuously = 2-3 lines, then nothing ca 30 seconds, again 1-2 lines etc. Didn’t have this problem before last update.

@ivanh00e There’s a new stable PMS version out October 1st. Let’s have you test against 1.17.0.1841 and make a new topic with logs and as much info as you can please.

This will help focus your efforts.

Thank you, I tried but it didn’t help. And I noticed the same thing happens in web interface which runs on iMac.

I tried to play Infinity Wars, it was around 20:30 - if you need to find it in log.
Logs.zip (2.5 MB)

Thanks can you also get us the XML Media information for that, zip and attach it too please?

I was hoping you’d make a new topic for yourself, not reply into this other topic from rcolletaz_gmail_com. So I can’t promise it will get noticed, but we can try. :+1:

Looking at your logs now…

sorry, my bad. I’m new here.
I’m not really sure how to make XML for a zip, I did one for the played file.
42136.xml.zip (5.8 KB)

Actually I’ve already made my topic before: Samsung TV - problem with SRT subtitles … so I can add logs there.

thanks for your help

oh nice thank you. I’ll have a look. File looks normal. Just sidecar ass subtitles being picked up. Would you consider moving those out of Plex and Scan Library Files and test again?

I am sorry, I’m not really sure what should I do.
I believe mkv-file doesn’t include any ass subtitles (according MKVToolNix-35.0.0)…
The same behaviour with subtitles show every movie in my library …

So what exactly should I move out of Plex?

Oh I thought you had purposely added some external subtitles like this

/volume1/video/A NEW STUFF/Avengers - Infinity War (2018) 1080p.mkv
/volume1/video/A NEW STUFF/Avengers - Infinity War (2018) 1080p.eng.ass

If not my bad.
Would you edit your original post and tag this Server - Synology please?
There’s are very astute guy who reads those posts.

ok, I’ll do. Maybe I’d rather make a new post with proper tags, info and logs.
thank you for your help.
