This has been one major annoyance for me and so far it seems to be a thing on my Android TV clients but maybe exists on other players as well.
Currently I have an HDHR tuner set up which largely has a bunch of ClearQAM SDTV channels coming in. Their formatting is often all over the place. Some are proper 16:9 with no letterboxing, others are letterboxed 4:3, some even ‘postage-stamped’ with black bars on all four sides. The display mode/zoom function in the Plex app is used quite liberally on these.
What’s frustrating is this setting seems to stick with any other channel even including local non-TV/DVR media. Many times I’ve played a 4k movie for example and noticed the framing was odd and found the zoom level still set.
It would be nice if this could be made to be channel/file specific and not maintained Plex-wide.
