Server Version#: 1.41.6.9685 (up to date according to “check for updates” button)
Player Version#: 2025.14.0 (966828378), on Pixel 7 pro
I’ve been running Plex Media Server on the same QNAP NAS for over 6 years but after the recent APP update on my wife’s phone (Samsung) and my own (Pixel 7), our personnal libraries are no longer available from either phone. The Samsung tablet’s app have not been updated yet and is still working fine.
The web app (app.plex.tv) on our PC has the same issue where the libraries are not available. All our personnal libraries are grayed out and marked with a red X. When clicking on any of them we get this message: “app.plex.tv n’arrive pas à se connecter à « XXXX » en toute sécurité”. The last portion of the message gives a link to: https://support.plex.tv/articles/206225077-how-to-use-secure-server-connections/
When opening the Plex app directly from the QNAP NAS, everything is working fine and we have access to all of our libraries.
I have already tried the following:
Rebooting the PMS app and QNAP NAS completly
Checking for updates on the PMS
Reloging on the phones’ app
Unistalling and reinstalling the phones’ app.
How do I get my libraries to show up again on our phones’ app? I’m rather tech saavy but I’m completly lost here !
I hope the tablet app does not upgrade automatically as we will loose our last remaining working app to watch content from our libraries.
This is really frustrating. I get that the upgrade rollout is a massive bust but I couldn’t find a clear fix in the posts I’ve gone through.
I’m not sure if this is the same issue, but there’s a problem with the latest app right now. Hold down the libraries button until you see the favorites pop up. Then unfavorite your libraries and favorite them again.
Holding down the librairies button on the app only presents a sort of popup menu called “all librairies” with buttons to either go to “plexamp” or “plex photos” and I have never used neither.
I also checked in the watchlist section where there was only 1 movie tagged. I’ve removed it from the watchlist, restarted the app on my phone but that didn’t change anything, my personal librairies are still not showing up.
Any update on this? I can see libraries shared with me but none of my libraries on my server in the app. I just happened to be traveling the last few days and couldn’t watch anything.
I’ve also tried the removing all authorized devices, renamed my phone and still can’t see my server.
I still can’t access my libraries from any devices now as my tablet has also updated to the version of the app.
I may also add that all my problems are all local (on my home wifi network) and not even on remote access (which I’ve never used). I wish I could get some real Plex tech support
I did force sign-out/sign-in, a re-start of the app, a restart of the phone and a full uninstall/-reinstall of the app.
My phone did not have any special character in its name but I did still change it to only letters (no space, no number) and redid everything stated above.
I then tried to create a new user (I only used the admin user since I first started using Plex 6-8 years ago). Using the new user did not change anything.
I also tried rebooting my NAS completly (QNAP) but that didn’t change anything.
I tried installing the desktop version of the Plex Client but the librairies were still not visible.
I did not change the DNS. I must admit I do not know where I should edit this setting in PMS (despite a quick google search) and I am not very sure what would be the point considering I only use Plex on my LAN and not on remote access.
I have a total of 5 personal libraries. 2 of which had an “é” in them. I’ve renamed all of my libraries with only letters (no space, no number) and restarted PMS. This did actually fixed the problem. Everything is accessible again on my phone and the browser app. I can assume it will accessible from the other devices which I’ll check tomorrow.
I found it weird that the special character in 2 librairies would render all 5 completly unaccessible. I would have expected the correct 3 to remain running.
Anyhow, many thanks to have mentionned to check for special character in the librairies too. I had not red that in all the posts I’ve checked.
I have this same problem. But I noticed that when I switch profiles within the application, the libraries appear and work normally on other profiles. When I switch back to my own “admin” profile, the libraries disappear and the library button on the bottom bar also disappears.
After spending all that time to get access to my personal libraries I now find out that watching my own videos, on my own network is only feasable with a remote watch pass.
I had red the news that remote watch wouldn’t be free but I never figured that watching my personal files at home on my personal LAN would count as a “remote watch”.
I’m definitively switching to something else as I use PLEX only to watch and manage my personal videos. I couldn’t care less about the other features.
Although i have the Remote Watch Pass and i have installed the Plex Photo’s app on my phone I’m having a problem where although my libraries appear (25 years of photography by year) they seemingly vanish after a few seconds. If i manage to click on one of the smaller folders, a few photos, i will get to see them but if i try one of the larger folders the photo’s and library only show for a brief moment before vanishing and being replaced by a “Nothing to See Here”.
I restart the app and again it all repeats. This is newly installed.
The plex music doesn’t have this problem. It loads up the music library and plays the audio just fine. As does the Plex movie app.
That said photos even in the old plex app never really showed properly. Before it wouldn’t even index all the files/photos properly. Just showing a handful in each folder. Now it’s showing all the files but only for a brief moment before it disappears.
It goes without saying that Plex via a desktop browser works fine re displaying all my context, be it films, jpgs or otherwise.
Never a good news when a company is “excited” about rolling out new changes. it’s only because their new changes means more $$$ (“sign up for our plex pass!!! if you paid previously to activate your mobile, oh well your loss”) for them and less actual customer service for the customers.
Roll back the changes and fire everyone involve with this.
