PG=13 (Not PG-13) Rating showing up until attempting to change it

A bunch of my PG and PG-13 movies are incorrectly labeled as PG=13 (Not PG-13.) When I go in to edit them back to the actual rating, the edit popup shows the correct rating.

Does the incorrect character come back when you ‘Refresh Metadata’ on the affected movie?

And if it does, does it continue to happen after you do the following?
Go to

  • Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB

In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
Repeat the same under

  • Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheMovieDatabase
  • Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie
  • Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase

I’ve tried changing the rating manually and locking it. I also followed your advice but had no luck. Can I post some screen shots a video or logs?

Please tell some affected TV show titles.
So we can investigate where those incorrect ratings may come from.

Or even better, please post the Plex Mediainfo XML of an episode of one affected TV show.

I’ve attached the xml and a few pictures showing whats happening. This started after I migrated my server using registry files as instructed by the support post below

The rating on the movie is only labeled as contentRating="PG".
And PG is what appears in your last screen shot.

Please look for a movie which is shown as PG=13

(Switch your library into ‘List’ view mode, then add the column for ‘Content Rating’ and let it sort after this column. This should make it a bit easier to spot one affected movie.)

In this screenshot my library is filtered to show only PG=13. But the entire selection is showing PG in list view.

For me, this means that the only place where the PG=13 appears is in the drop-down selectors which you use to filter.
How it got there, is very likely from the embedded meta data in one of your files. But now that you have made the configuration changes I suggested, none of your movies in Plex actually has the PG=13 any more.
It is only one cache table somewhere in the database which remembers that PG=13 was there, once. So you can ignore it for now.
It won’t have any effect on anything, as long as you don’t actually use it.

Plex should clear out this cache table in one of its database maintenance cycles in the coming weeks.
