Same issue on FireTV.
Stream paused - for ever - and if you kill paused streams in a set time - an error message pops up that stops the screensaver to burn itself into your display for the next 8 hours while you’re sleeping… or whatever.
Exact same issue, I wake up to a drained tablet on the play next screen with a time out message waiting for me. Charging my bedside tablet extremely frequently is getting very old.
Plex for Android 8.4.0.19098
Plex Server checks and auto updates daily.
Since this became a issue when the “feature” sleep timer was introduced i’m guess it is no coincidence. Can we get a official response on this (who am i kidding?) as to if this is a bug or intended.
I have the same issue the last few weeks. I charge my phone on my bedside table at night while falling asleep (probably not the safest thing to do) watching a TV show so when I wake up in the morning then the screen is still on the “Play Queue Post-Play Screen”.
Luckily my phone is not an AMOLED screen as I am sure this could cause bad burn-in on those type of displays. But I am sure this is not great for my battery life.

Plex Server: 1.19.5.3112
Happening to me too on the latest version on fire tablet. Unfortunately didn’t grab the version number. Have gone to old version 7.27.0 after seeing a post about the same thing previously being fixed in the past and it’s now working as expected.
In case it helps, on tautulli it says I’m playing the next episode, when the app is still on the up next screen. And I often wake up to an alert that the server disconnected me for being paused too long (screen on all night…). It seems the next episode screen is starting some session before selecting to play
+1 on this - it feels like a regression, it was previously resolved in an earlier version, as mentioned in this closed thread.
There also seems to be an related issue with Android TV too because on my Android TV (Shield) the next episode does begin playing when the Post-Play screen shows, however it’s only the audio that does play, there is no video (the post-play screen shows).
I think this aligns with what @dannytrigo2 reports and it feels like the screen staying on is due to the ‘phantom’ background playing of the next episode.
Congratulations Plex, you’ve lost another lifetime subscriber. I’ve started rolling out Jellyfin because this was the final straw. I’m loving only charging my media tablet once every week or so instead of every morning.
With the combination of no response to this big issue and constant tech support to fix my less tech savey users devices I’m not sad to leave.
If I could get my lifetime membership back I would as its a far worse service than the one I paid for several years ago.
What happened to the Plex support that used to be very active on the forums, reddit, etc?
