When I try to use Picture in Picture for downloaded movies or series
It says something went wrong and nothing work
Picture-in-Picture will use the native iOS video player while Plex is by default using its own more capable player. One of the benefits of the new downloads feature is that it’ll allow you to sync/download videos without changing them (while the old sync transcoded all files to be natively compatible). This can mean you end up downloading formats that aren’t compatible with that the player used by PIP.
I downloaded the video in another app that uses PIP and it worked fine
You’re saying the new downloads feature will randomly break PiP support depending on file format? How on earth is this a benefit?
Sadly this is reported as a known limitation, hoping this is something in the backlog to get some love soon. I’m going to go back to using the “other application” until this is resolved (sadly).
