Player Version#: Plex for Samsung 4.5.1
I am getting pixelation and stream skipping on my Samsung but no other devices. When “optimising” the video everything is fixed. This also happens on some videos but not others but it is always completely replicable on the same show where the issue occurs.
Also this happens when streaming original and when transcoding.
ffmpeg shows no errors on the file.
I’ve had similar issues with just two shows. Plays for 10 - 20 seconds then stutters. Samsung as well, Smart TV tizen.
I have just had this exact thing start recently. Never had any problems prior. Looks like there was a recent update to 4.15.2 around the same time the issue started.
I’m getting the same issue on not one, not two but THREE different models of Samsung TVs. One is a 55NU8000, a 55NU7100 and a 65RU8000. The file plays perfectly on my PC hosting Plex. Plays perfectly on my tablet (Samsung Tab A 10.1") and two laptops using the plex web app and plex windows 10 app. Only not the Samsung TVs and only within about the last month has this issue started to crop up…
What I did to stop it was throttle the max mbps of the stream to 12 on the plex samsung app and I haven’t had the problem since. Not sure why that works as the ethernet port is 100mbps.
I don’t think that’ll work for me as my Samsung TV is crapping out on a 1.2mpbs per second 720p hevc file. The entire file is about 200mb for 45 minutes. So for 1 minute of streaming, it only has to send about 5mb. Or for 1 second, about 0.1MB or 100kB/sec which over any modern day router should be no problem.

Same with me and my Samsung TV and it’s really annoying.
How can we move this forwards? Perhaps list our TV models and Plex app versions to start building up a picture then share the transcoding settings we each have etc?
Same problem on UA43MU6100 recently updated to Plex for Samsung 4.15.2. Problem started recently. Doesn’t affect other devices. Server version 1.18.3.2156, 1Gbps wired network. Serious pixelation with 1080p video/5.1 DCA audio 20Mbps stream. Either forcing 12mbps or disabling Direct play/Direct stream has it under control for now.

Within the Plex App on the TV I’ve unchecked the ability for it to Direct Play and it appears to be working (for now)
Same problem for me, only been happening a few days now. Before that, everything played fine (for the past 6 months I’ve had the TV). I have a wired connection, plex server is on my local network. Everything is just pixelated when trying to play anything.
