It’s still doing it for me in 3.20.4 as of 30 seconds ago, but I’m getting shaka3015 errors, that message says it fixed shaka1001 error.
I’m going to attach a debug log to this message for anyone from plex who cares to look, I tried to cut it so the relevant parts remain.
To start looking into this, i would recommend getting the following

Same SHAKA error on playback of files I watched with no problem only a 2 months ago.
Does it happen with every video or just particular videos?
Particular video
Does it happen in the middle of playback or at the start?
Right from the start!
What version of Plex Media Server are you running?
In settings under the “WEB” tab its Version 3.20.5
Under the “SERVER” tab its Version 1.8.3.4235
Could you restart your server, reproduce the error, and provide Plex Media Server logs?
Yes. I followed these instructions and set it to “VERBOSE” debugging.
Thanks for the Plex Web App log. Please could you repeat the steps again and get the plex web log as before but also the more important Plex Media Server logs

The Plex Media Server log as you have provided there
Here’s the stuff you requested. I attempted to play it at 5:36pm. Thanks for taking the time to look into this. It’s not doing it with every file I attempt to play, but it is doing it with things that I know I’ve played in the past via the web app as it’s a series that I’ve already watched but am going through again.
Let me know if there’s anything else I can provide and I’ll do my best to do so.

Thanks for the logs and screenshot. I have discussed it with the development team and there is an investigation going on but they would like more samples. So please could you produce a 5 minute clip of the mkv /storage/shares/videos/TV/Arrow/Season 2/Arrow - S02E10 - Blast Radius.mkv using mkvtoolnix and see if that short clip gives the same errors and please get the screenshot and logs for the clip as well as uploading the clip on dropbox or similar service and let me have a link to it and i will pass it with the logs to the development team
Is it possible to get the current time on the screen? Cannot tell exactly when the shaka3015 error was displayed. The verbose log you included showed a shaka3016 error - may be there were several shaka errors

I will include that in the future, but the error will typically show up when attempting the start the video (though at times it will stop playing and display it for some clips) then, sometimes when I dismiss the error, if I’m not quick enough closing the player by clicking the X on the interface it will pop up again.
I will work on the other things that you’ve requested ASAP and get back to you. Also, I wouldn’t be opposed to making my server available to you guys for testing purposes if that would assist your team.
@sa2000 Here ya go. The shortened video clip results in the same error being generated as the original (shaka3015 (media)). I’m attaching the logs from the attempt to watch the short one to this message, as well as the screenshot showing the time (the filename for the screenshot even has the time in it this time, as my mac recorded it).
Also note, I think one of my other users was attempting to play something while I performed this stuff, so if you see something accessed other than this file in the logs, it was that user.

Thank you for the sample and logs. I have not been able to reproduce the error on my server and I used 1.8.4.4249 as well and tried both hosted and bundled Plex Web 3.20.5 and chrome 60.0. Could be specific to Mac - my tests were on Windows. In all cases playback was successful. I had one buffering at 10 seconds in one of the tests but recovered after that.
I will pass the link to the clip and logs to the web team

Thanks for taking a look. I’ll load windows into a VM later today to test with and let you know as I only own mac’s . I do know the error surfaces on both chrome and safari.
Ok, finally got a windows vm loaded up, and the files play with IE and chrome on windows, so it must be a mac thing. I also download PMP for mac and they play fine via that on mac as well…weird.

I do not believe this is mac only as I am viewing a file on a Windows 10 machine using the chrome browser and also receive the error discussed in this thread.
My server runs on ubuntu 16.10 - plex version 1.8.4.4249.
Edit: I decided to try to reencode the file that was giving an issue to mp4 / AAC and that seems to have resolved it for me.
I’m getting shaka3016 errors when playing back certain FLAC files in the Edge browser on Windows 10 (1703), which worked fine until I updated to version 1.8.4.4249 of the Plexmediaserver plugin for FreeNAS earlier today. Tried the same FLAC files in Chrome and they’re playing fine.
Friend of mine on his Windows machine with Chrome has suddenly this problem as well…
The PLEX Server is running on Ubuntu, the latest version.
With a MKV file, about 6,8GB
OS: Windows 10
Chrome Browser: Up to date
Plex Server: Up to date.
Error shaka3015 (Media) happens when I try to play one particular series (Babylon 5). All other media so far has run with no error. Issue only occurs on my PC. Plex running on my Roku has no issue. Additionally, error only occurs in Chrome, Firefox had no issue.
Cleared Chrome cache completely, restarted both the Plex server and Chrome (including Chrome running in tray), and verified that the issue is still occurring. Only difference for me is that I recently moved all my media to a new HDD. As previously mentioned, all other content is working normally.

A sample (say 5 minute clip) resulting in the error would be needed as well as Plex Web App log and Plex Media Server log and a full screenshot of the error showing the error and time of the error
