It happens also on my iOS app which is version 4.25 as well as on the roku app which also is up to date.

I used my laptop because in the web app the error message is displayed. But not with iOS or roku app

Shaka errors are Plex Web specific and are not on roku or iOS app. This forum topic as you can see from the title is about shaka3015 errors,

If you have issues on roku and ios app please raise a new forum topic or give me a link to one and I will have a look if you have provided logs - but do not raise it in the Plex Web forum.

As you indicate it applies to more than one plex app / device, best to raise the topic on the server forum for your platform - windows / mac, linix or NAS

I’m getting this on the latest beta as well, the file is The.Walking.Dead.S08E09.720p.HDTV.x264-AVS.mkv, happens on local/web versions, sorry but I can’t attached logs or a sample. but it is 100% reproducible at the timestamp.

I only need to investigate this if it is happening also on https://app.plex.tv/desktop
The version of Plex Web app that is bundled with Plex Media Server and accessible via http://localhost:32400/web or via local IP does not have the recent playback fixes added to the hosted version

It has the updated Plex Web App version 3.37.2 bundled in - which means that the fixes in https://app.plex.tv/desktop are now also in http://localhost:32400/web and http://local-ip-of-pms:32400/web and http://127.0.0.1:32400/web

would need logs from Plex Web and Plex Media Server and media info xml to investigate and sample (test clip from the media file to reproduce the problem).

Restart the server to get fresh logs and enable the plex web logging for the browser that is being used
Test that you can get error with the test clip
Capture screen and note down the time when the error arises
Get the Plex Web App log text (copy it to text file) - see https://support.plex.tv/articles/201611836-plex-web-app-logs/
Capture the plex media Server logs zip - see
Get the media info xml (copy it to text file) - see https://support.plex.tv/articles/201998867-investigate-media-information-and-formats/
zip and attach together with time of error and the test clip (upload to dropbox and share link please if too large)

(please try with different browsers and report on outcome - note that plex web logging is per browser and per url used to access the server)

+1 on this.
Adds to the list of bugs along with subtitles disappearing (again), video stopping in the middle of file, unable to finish playing video (just starts buffering at the last second instead of closing the video window).

Development the last 6 months has been very impressing

Noticed this “shaka3015” error today on macOS 10.13.2 on the Plex Web interface accessed via Safari 11.0.2 (13604.4.7.1.3). Seemed to get this error every 10 minutes or so, on an H.265 video being transcoded by the server to H.264.

Tried out Chrome (65.0.3325.162) and it seems to be doing OK so far. Will report back if I have any more info.

It seems this has been going on for a while. The shaka3015 error just started for me last night. It’s popping up every few minutes.

Just updated to 1.12.2.4929 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and it started doing this. Never seen it before “shaka3015 (Media)”. This is happening on a movie, via Firefox 59.0.2, also on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. THe movie is not being started from the beginning, but about 8 minutes in from the beginning.

I suddenly have this issue too, on Safari for Mac. The issue disappears when unchecking the “Direct Transmission” in the Debug section of the Web Player settings.

Im getting errors 3014/3015 as well. Original files play fine, but after transcoding to h264/aac they try to direct stream and stay buffering, or it errors out.

I can see plex downloads the aac codec, and ive made sure the files have 777 permissions, as EAC audio had that issue in docker containers

Using linuxserver.io Plex docker on 16.04

Thank you for the verbose plex web log showing the failure. Did it actually succeed in its attempt to switch from Direct Stream to Transcode ?

To refer this to the development team I need server logs as well - corresponding to the web app log and the media info xml and a media sample file giving the issue

The logs would also help to see why the switchover to transcode was not successful if it was not

Im getting errors 3014/3015 as well. Original files play fine, but after transcoding to h264/aac they try to direct stream and stay buffering, or it errors out.

I can see plex downloads the aac codec, and ive made sure the files have 777 permissions, as EAC audio had that issue in docker containers

Using linuxserver.io Plex docker on 16.04
