context
I stream my music library from my Sony Bravia smart tv using the Plex app. The library is hosted on my Windows PC through my Plex server. The music sounds great and I never encounter this error when I watch movies/tv.
behavior
when I shuffle my music library and let it play, Plex eventually starts notifying me on my TV of playback errors. I’ve noticed this usually happens when the cache hits 700mb (sometimes as low as 650mb).
steps ive taken
This fixes the problem:
- Go to Sony settings > Apps > Cache, delete cache.
- Errors still persist, so I do a hard restart of my tv.
- A simple off/on does not fix errors. It has to be a hard restart
- I’ve disabled I/O cache
- Direct play is enabled
what i expect
No playback errors even during long listening times, like I’d experience when using Spotify/Youtube on my tv. If it’s a cache issue, then I’d expect some automatic cycling as a background process that flushes the cache for tracks that I’ve already played. Ideally I could listen to music for longer than a couple of hours without going through all the motions.
Thanks so much! LMK what configs I should set or anything else I can do to sidestep. I listen off my tv because my sound system is good, and it’s just loud enough to not break my focus as I wfh.
