There was an unexpected error during playback. Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems.

Everything I try to play says Playback Error.

Mac 10.13.6

I could have sworn I responded to this. This simply means that for whatever reason, you didn’t have enough bandwidth to stream the quality the movie was set to your computer/Roku/SmartTV. Simply change the quality to a lower stream. Usually 4 or 3MBps is enough.

Thanx for the info, but I get 60+mbs, so I don’t think bandwidth is the problem.

Could this be a problem on Plex’s end?

Here’s and interest turn of events. I get the error message on my Mac, but I can watch stuff on my Samsung TV…???

If it’s not your bandwidth, it has to be a codec issue. Since using PLEX, I’ve encountered two movies that absolutely would not play. One of the movies was encoded with FLAC audio, and the other movie was encoded with X265/HEVC. Although x.265 normally plays, it must have had something in it’s profile that PLEX did not like. This is one of the reasons why I HATE people who go off the reservation and not use standard coding. They never think about compatibility issues. I should have kept that file to look in to it further, but I deleted it. I’m not sure if you have transcoding turned on, but try and do that and see if it makes a difference.
