Thanks Bruce, I will do that and post the results.
Same issue on mi box.
recent model
Any solution coming for this issue ? I basically gave up on Plex working properly on FireTV stick 2nGen. I had multiple issues but this one made it unusable.
The evidence that showed memory shortage is with the development team. I wouldn’t mind seeing more examples - logs of the app and the server to see if all failures are for a similar issue
Same is happening to me now
Server Version#: 1.13.5.5291
Player Version#: 7.4.0.6424 (ab172317)
I can see the player crashing out
What is the device exactly - make / model
Also where the client says its lost the connection to the server, would need to see corresponding logs from the server as well
See these suppport articles for server logs
https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/
https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/
basically when you have the playback error, i would like to see both client and server logs for that time
Same is happening to me now
Server Version#: 1.13.7.5369
Player Version#: 7.6.0.6822 (4a37c25d)
most frequently in an oreo device (Xiaomi Mi Box 3) than in the nougat one (Sony Bravia Android TV).
Thanks for the logs. having a look
It would help a great deal if you say the time when this happened
According to the logs it completed playback of the video

could you please try the file 'The Day'
with other players and see if plays beyond the time when the shield app stopped
It stopped after 9 minutes 47 seconds
If it does play beyond that in other players please upload the file to dropbox etc and send me link by PM
F:\TV_Shows\Snowfall\Season 02\Snowfall.S02E02.The.Day.WEBDL-1080p.mkv
Whilst I do understand that this may not be specific to a video file, i still would like to have the file and will try and see if the problem can be reproduced
I have referred the logs to the development team
I find Plex on the Shield TV to be borderline unusable. So glad I paid for the Plex Pass for something that doesn’t work vs Kodi which is free that works without problem!
Plex Media Server on a Mac Mini connected by ethernet to the router alongside the Shield TV. Every video I’ve tried plays OK but as soon as I try to hit FF/RW I get the “Playback has stopped blah blah blah”. Seriously I’d forgotten how bad this was I haven’t used it for so long. Nothing has improved!
There may be different issues. The expoplayer error you are referring to at line 4964 was not there for the earlier problem where the end of file was hit spuriously
Thanks for the sample.
For the end of file issue, the plan is to develop some extra diagnostics to try and isolate the problem
same issue for me on lastest version of plex and plex server on nvidia shield playing back recorded tv. no problems before but now shows recorded at 720 play fine while shows at 1080i get error as described. tried reinstalling with default settings but no change
Also on closer inspection it looks as thought a 2 hr recorded show is only displayed as about 6 minutes of total content on the play bar when I tried to play it with my xbox and it would skip through the entire 2 hr show in a couple minuets after a long buffer when playing 1x. (if that helps)
The shield on the other hand would just give the the lost connection error or the error that the server wasn’t able to keep up with the video content even though the server and client are both on the shield where the xbox is just running the client.
This wasn’t a one off recording error, its the same for every show recorded at 1080i with default settings. I’ve also been cycling through all the settings and haven’t found a combo that will let me play it again like it used to play
Thank you very much for all the logs and the couple of sample files.
We now need to wait for the development team to devise the diagnostics to help track the problem down. In some tests alreay carried out, the problem goes away under test conditions in debug mode. So some targeted specific diagnostic logging is needed.
I gave up on Plex and went to Kodi on my Nvidia shield.
They have had similar logs for nearly a year. Excuse me if most of us don’t hold our breath.
Starting to regret this shield purchase now. Everything was gloriously perfect for awhile and now it’s a mess for me. Wife is livid w/ me.
