FIXED: if anyone is interested or experiencing the same issue you may have a “LAN networks” setting configuration error. upon further testing it shows that i was able to connect to local as long as my server and receiving devices were both using wifi only. if the server was connected through LAN then everything on my network would play remote. Fix located on thread Devices on local network are connecting as "remote".
