Playback Problems - xBox One X

Server Version#: 1.16.0.1226
Player Version#: 2.31.1.70

Hi folks,

I’ve recently started to experience problems when streaming media to my xBox. In essence, the stream stutters constantly. The xBox does not try to buffer the stream (ie the “buffer” screen does not appear) and the only way I can get it to stop is if I set the xBox to transcode the media at 720p.

I’m running on a 1Gb wired network and I can confirm that all other players (ps4, iOS) stream without issues from the Plex Server.

I have tried a reinstall of Plex Media Server and also a factory reset of the xBox but to no avail.

Any suggestions as to what may be the problem?

Many thanks

Shaun

A bit late on the reply here, but I’m having the same issue. I can play 4K video from my PMS just fine on my Roku Premiere with no stuttering. The Premiere is wireless. The Xbox One X, wired, stutters on the same videos. The frustrating rub is that the Premiere isn’t designed to play 4K, so it starts overheating after about 45 minutes in hot weather, so I’m left without an option to stream.

Something recently broke Plex 4k playback on the Xbox One X and several people have made lots of posts here about it however Plex devs will not respond and are seemingly ignoring the issue. Basically you are SOL.

I would suggest PMing @Moussa and put in bug reports on your Xbox. Maybe if enough people try and raise this issue with Plex and MS someone will fix it.
