Playback stops and player must be reopened to recommence it

Server Version#: 1.18.2.2015
Player Version#: 4.12.2

Plex is often getting stuck while watching a video externally via transcoding. The specific video I’ve been having trouble with is a 9.7Mbps 1080p file which I am converting to 4Mbps 720p. Every 10 minutes or so, playback will stop and I have to close the player and start the stream again to get it going. The dashboard shows CPU usage drop to 0, then bandwidth drop to 0 shortly afterwards and then playback will stop once it reaches the point it had buffered to.

I’ve attached the Plex Media Server.log with debug logging on and also a picture of the Dashboard to show when the playback stopped.

Plex Media Server.log (1.6 MB)

Thanks!

This is what I see in your logs -

Every 10 minutes or so the client (your web browser) initiates a close.
Are you able to test from a different remote location to see if this is related to where you are coming from? If you are at work maybe your work has some session limit setup which breaks the connection?

Is you Plex Server connected to an ISP with dedicated bandwidth? Maybe if the bandwidth is shared you are getting cut out of bandwidth which is causing the drop?

It looks like your server and client are both in Amsterdam which is good that you are not crossing the pond or a great distance.

I think that might be when I close the player to start playback again, and at that point something has already gone wrong?

Will try and test at another remote location soon if I can. It was work which has an unrestricted 70Mb down, and at home where my server is I have 200Mb down and 10Mb up so shouldn’t be a bandwidth issue.

Both in Norwich actually, not sure why it’s showing Amsterdam, but very close none the less!
