Please can anyone help as nothing seems to work any more?

After getting a new router everything Plex Related stopped working. I have literally spent over 12 hours reading dozens of forum posts and trying every thing I can, including multiple reinstalls, updates, etc. During these processes I received dozens of different cryptic error messages or encountered activities that just did nothing. Eventually I deleted everything Plex related from all my devices, rebooted my Synology Server and started reinstalling everything from scratch again.

Frustratingly even with a completely clean install very little is working. I have downloaded the latest version of Plex Server but I am still being told to constantly download the latest version. I am constantly reminded to Claim the Server but clicking on this option results in a spinning progress wheel for a couple of minutes and then nothing (no success or error message).

Although I have managed to re-scan a couple of folders with the Web interface and get a few home movies catalogued, Plex is now extremely slow in processing these files. When I open the Plex Client on my Mac it can’t see any Servers (so Mac Client is unusable), but the Server did appear on my Nvidia shield TV but with the Claim Server message and button which again doesn’t work or provide any error message.

Apologies that I cannot be more concise, but after using Plex for almost 10 years, it seems as though nothing seems to ‘just work’ like it used to, which is heartbreaking. I’m not a complete novice with computers and can honestly say I have never encountered anything as frustrating as the latest versions of Plex.

Thanks in advance if anyone is able to provide any insights that might help.

Regards
Chris

Your new router replacement seems to need a bit more work. You’ve no DNS working on your Plex server, I suspect your whole NAS will be pretty unhappy about this.

If your NAS is using DHCP might just be best to reboot it. If you have it setup with a fixed IP double check your DNS values are current as its highly likely they have changed with a new router.

Thank you soo much. Thanks for such a quick reply I wish I had asked for help 12 hours ago. Weirdly the NAS was performing okay and the plethora of different errors meant I couldn’t determine the root cause of the issue (I struggle to digest error logs). However, your helpful response led me straight to the issue and appears to have resolved my issues.

Thank you again.

Best Regards
Chris
