Plex Server says "Get Plex Media Server"

Server Version#:1.25.6.5545.6000
Player Version#:

DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 2

Plex used to work just fine, but now when I start it up on my Syno NAS and go to [http://192.168.0.101:32400/web all my content is gone and when I click on the “Add your media to Plex” I get to a splash page with a big button that says “Get Plex Media Server”

I uninstalled and followed this tutorial Installation & Setup of Plex Media Server on Synology - #7 by ChuckPa but it didn’t change anything.

I see some other forums on this but no clear fix :frowning:

@wasssup

When you try to open the server, are you using http://ip.addr.of.syno:32400/web ?

I suspect you are.

If you’re already signed into your Plex account, SIGN OUT
Now repeat.

If that fails, I will ask the next question: Are you and the Syno on the same RFC-1918 compliant network (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, or 172.16.x.x-172.31.x.x) ?

  • signed out of plex account and also deleted all authorized devices
  • on the same network - 192.168.5.x

Please do the following . (we’ll see what’s happening)

  1. Stop Plex
  2. Open Filestation
  3. Navigate → Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server
  4. Right-click LogsCompress to Logs.zip
  5. Download that zip
  6. Attach here.

actually - I found an easier way. - hope the below helps others in the future

  1. on the NAS go to the DSM UI
  2. uninstall Plex Server
  3. open File station
  4. navigate to Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Sever/Cache
  5. delete the contents
  6. reinstall Plex Server
  7. open the web ui for plex as per normal and all should work fine

It’s a workaround to others.

I’d really like to see those logs.
I’d like to know what the root cause is – so it can be fixed

There are reports of Networking errors on Synology .

They are having some major problems with their latest update.
