Using those names:

  1. Create the share “NewMusic” and give all appropriate permissions as you do.
  2. Follow the How To, using your names instead of my example names.

If you wish to test using a small copied sample, It’s a good way to gain confidence in the new tool.

Thanks for all your help @ChuckPa - working like a dream now!!! What is even cooler and not sure how except the magic of Plex…my existing playlists auto-updated to the volume/share. I loaded web tools, downloading them to M3U8 expecting I would need to manually update the paths and import… and was surprised to see changed. Bonus.

I added the new share to the Syno media indexer and DS Audio is also working.

So you have any suggestions for me in the “How To”?
Anything I can make more clear / less confusing?

I would remove the comment that when on the same volume, you are essentially doing a rename…when in fact you still need to create the share to move the files to…that tripped me up that I had to create the share still when on the same volume. It made sense when I saw the script was doing an MV.

The part at the end where I was looking for the 2 - showing it pickup the new share and the old share - that did not happen on mine and wasn’t sure why. Good to leave it in case it shows to others.

Also, anyone who has .38 special (the band) music …well, your comment about any period in front Linux will ignore. I never knew why I could not play those. That was funny. I renamed the folder to 38 special.

Edited.
