PLease help- A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex Media Server.

I have been using PLex for years but for the past few weeks it was not detecting any media I uploaded, no matter what I did. I read all the appropriate forums and tips but nothing helped. I then noticed that when I tried to add a library, as with many other users, I would get a message that “your changes could not be saved”, and after installing again I noticed the language dropdown contained nothing. Again, I looked up many posts and did everything suggested, to no avail. I uninstalled everything and started again. Now when I try and connect at the Server Startup, I get a message “A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex Media Server.” I have tried over and over again but still nothing It simply will not find any servers. I am completely lost and have no idea what else to do. I disabled my Windows defender antivirus and firewall, and this made no change. Could someone please assist. I have attached the logs from today.

First thing I’d do is to verify that not another instance of Plex Server is already running.
Thus can happen if you have more than one user accounts in Windows.
So, log in to every Windows user account and explicitly log off afterwards.
Don’t do a ‘Switch User’ action, this keeps the user logged in.

Next thing to do is to quit and then uninstall Plex Server.
(Use the regular Windows ‘Apps’ control panel - don’t use 3rd party ‘Uninstaller’ software!)
Then download a fresh copy of the most recent installer from the ‘DOWNLOADS’ link above.
Maybe use a different web browser than you normally use.
Install it,
but decline the offer to start Plex at the end of the installation process.

Reboot the machine and let it start up. Give it several minutes to finish startup.

Then try again. Make sure the machine has a working internet connection, at least the first few times you use Plex.

Also see if you have proxy / vpn software interfering / intercepting communications

The core component error is displayed on initial setup if the python agent processes do not start correctly and communicate with the server

2018-04-14 15:33:45,364 (1d68) : ERROR (networking:219) - Error opening URL 'http://127.0.0.1:32400/:/plugins/com.plexapp.system/resourceHashes'
HTTPError: HTTP Error 502: Bad Gateway

This is one of many gateway errors

I do have VPN software installed, but I have not used these in a long while, so none of these are open when I try and set up the Plex server.

Uninstall them without any trace left. Then restart Windows and try again.

Well after so many weeks of trying different things, I can finally say it is now working! I really must thank both of you, because I had tried so many things with no success prior to your posts. I am not sure whether it was the VPNs I uninstalled or the re-installation described above, or perhaps a combination of both, but it is now working. Thank you again.

I’m having the same issue I did all these steps and now when I sign in it keeps asking me to install the plex Media Server. I already installed it over and over and its still asking me to Download the server after I already installed it. I am stuck it has been 2 months and I still can’t figure this out. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to fix this on going issue Thanks.
