Please, please, please fix broken DVR & LG TV memory leak before continuing to make plex 'look nice'

Plex DVR is ridiculously poor at managing tuners. When working properly, you have to tune each tuner individually, and you have to select the channels you want access to individually as well. For me, with 6 dual tuners, this takes a ridiculous amount of time, especially when in the UK channels are changing almost on a monthly basis, and having to retune at least that often. This would be incredibly frustrating, as you should just be able to tell the system which channels you want to receive, and have that data applied to all tuners, with the option of being able to adjust tuners individually if required. However, the tuning system does not operate very well at all. The channels do not match the channel numbers, they are not in order, and there are often multiples of the same channel, which if accidentally selecting more than 1, means that the system gets upset and refuses to accept your settings! Sometimes the tuners just disappear, and during this, sometimes programmes are recorded, and sometimes not!

More importantly, the LG app (which you constantly update without my permission, think this is illegal in the EU!) has a bad memory leak. It will randomly ‘restart to free up memory,’ sometimes 4 or 5 times in a row. Lately it always happens after a few minutes of playing music, but then stabilises for a good hour or so. It also always happens when viewing photos on the TV. I can’t look at more than a dozen or so without the app restarting.

Also, the LG TV app is incredibly slow on showing any pages on my primary server. 80% of the time, on all 3 of my LG TVs, selecting the tab to show what’s on deck (now the new layout in the ‘recommended’ tab), an error comes up and there is no information. Selecting a different tab, and then coming back to the first tab works.

And before I forget, the issue I raised last year at least still occurs. Skipping ahead or backwards on recorded TV programs often restarts the entire program, skips forward by 10 or more minutes, then only skipping forward when asked to skip back. In addition, randomly, the controls will stop responding, with the control ribbon stuck on screen for 2-3 minutes whilst the programme plays behind it. Sometimes this leads to an app restart (memory leak problem above), sometimes it starts to respond again, and sometimes i have to turn the TV off at the wall because the plex app has frozen the entire TV.

Plex app in chrome is rubbish, it often stops to buffer, but can’t seem to connect and I have to shut down the player and restart it.

Please fix the underlying software before you continue messing around with the interface. Please don’t tell me that my network is too slow, or that i need better kit. I use enterprise grade managed equipment with a 4Gbps backbone, and i know how to use it. The only reson that my network could be to blame is if you’ve taken shortcuts in your design which means that you need every plex device to be attached to a single switch in order to work smoothly.

And I keep forgetting to ask, why can’t you use network shares in libraries? I need to run 2 separate servers because of this ridiculous decision!

Server Version#: 2x windows 1.16.3.1402, plus all previous for the last few years. These problems transcend the updates, with the skipping issue starting about 18 months ago (shortly after I bought the plex pass and moved my system over to your DVR).
Player Version#: Latest on: Chrome win 10,

I can rarely watch an in-progress recording. Plex DVR is broken and has been for some time. I am trying Emby just for the Live TV and DVR and it’s hands down better than Plex by far. Plex has been mostly silent or respond for log requests, or say they are looking into it. I gave up on Plex Live TV and DVR until they show they can fix it.

Can confirm the memory leak. Plex keeps reloading, and struggles to keep 50+ mbps video in memory; i.e. remux videos keep buffering in the Plex app, but not the videos+photos app.

In the end, my family uses the videos+photos app that comes with the LG app, instead of the Plex app.

Which LG TV model? Server version?

I have a OLEDB8 and none of what is mentioned is apparent.

I’ve got an LED LG with model number: 49UJ632T, running webOS 3.0.

Ditto with the memory leak. Scrolling through movie/tv gallery for too long always end up restarting the app.
